1978 advertisement of Hotel Midway House that was jointly operated by PIA and KLM near Karachi Airport. This hotel was initially established near Karachi Airport by KLM some years before Pakistan emerged on world map as an independent country in 1947. The hotel was named as Midway House because it was located almost in the middle of route for KLM flights operated between Amsterdam and Jakarta. Karachi Airport at that time was used as refueling point for KLM flights between Europe and Asia and KLM crew stayed at Hotel Midway House. In old days, passengers of KLM flights between Asia and Europe also made overnight stay at this hotel. When PIA became KLM business partner in Hotel Midway House, the logo of both airlines became part of hotel logo as seen in this advertisement. The hotel acted as nice and comfortable resting point for transit passengers of PIA flights. For training PIA cabin crew, the fuselage section of PIA's first aircraft i.e. Lockheed L-1049C Super Constellation (AP-AFQ) was placed in the premises of Hotel. The aircraft was used for cabin crew training for many years before PIA established PIA Training Centre (PTC) at a new location in Karachi
