History of PIA - Pakistan International Airlines

The totally new livery of green and gold designed by London design consultants Negus and Negus was introduced on PIA's first Boeing 747-200B delivered to the airline on April 16, 1976.This livery made good use of the national colors of green and white, enhanced by a gold cabin window line above a broad peacock green band extending the length of the fuselage. The new livery for the first time introduced stylized Urdu script PIA initials designed by a London-based Chinese artist. Pakistan International titles in green alongside stylized Urdu script PIA initials in gold, were displayed on the upper forward fuselage. White PIA initials highlighted the all green tail fin.

Old timers recall that in the late 70s, when the green and gold livery was first introduced, it used to turn heads and earn admiring comments. Even at busy international airports worldwide, the PIA aircraft's peacock green tail helped it to stand out in the crowd.
