Hyderabad Airport Re-opening

Post by Abbas Ali »

HYDERABAD, July 23: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said that reopening of Hyderabad airport will go a long way in promoting trade and industry and sports events. He was talking to Director, Civil Aviation Training Institute, Asif Bashir Ahmed, at his secretariat, on Monday. He said the airport was made officially functional on June 28 but the posting of relevant staff was being completed now while air service for other cities will resume shortly.

Apart from giving a boost to trade and industrial activity, this will help in holding tournaments, especially cricket at international level, said Nazim.

Kanwar Navved Jamil issued directives for renovation and putting up sign boards at important points of the city and asked the cantonment officials to construct a dual carriage road for the airport.

Director Civil Aviation Training Institute offered training to officials of the concerned department of Latifabad Taluka regarding extinguishing of fire and combating other emergencies.

DCO Aftab Khatri, Latifabad Taluka Nazim Sabir Hussain Kaimkhani, district officer roads, Nizamuddin Shaikh and XEN Iqbal Ahmed were present.

So what has changed that will warrant the reopening of the airport. Or is it another political gambit?

They can resume old Fokker routes like KHI-HYD-LYP/LHE etc with ATR.

Thank you Abbas. Yes there lot of potential for HYD. I personally know lot of people from HYD who are working in LYP, LHE, ISB and elsewhere in the North. Most of them complain about their inability to be at home on weekends. Many of them chose to be in Pakistan only because they could be near their family. But in absence of airlink to HYD, they felt like being in the US or any other part of the world.

The posted HYD schedule is much more extensive than the twice weekly flights that used to operate there previously. Hope it's worth it.

If PIA start ATR flights to Hyderabad and beyond, I wonder what will be the choice of passengers, ATR or F27? and if they can still fly on F27 then why not they fly on PIA F27 which was forcefully grounded after the tragic Multan crash. :-k
