The second ex-Vietnam Airlines Boeing 777-2Q8ER will join PIA fleet under Pakistani registration AP-BMH, according to a news channel.

Probably Vietnam Airlines Boeing 777-2Q8ER registration VN-A150 (construction number 32717).

According to news channels, Boeing 777-2Q8ER registration AP-BMG recently inducted in PIA fleet as dry leased aircraft is without Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), Onboard Performance Tool (OPT) and cameras - Ground Maneuvering Camera System (GMCS)?

A PIA spokesperson has clarified that these are additional features for the aircraft and their absence do not affect aircraft performance and flight safety. The aircraft can be equipped with these features later when required.

The Boeing 777 is equipped with all modern and essential facilities and it was examined by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and PIA Engineering, the spokesperson said.

PIA any staff member should double check EFB flightless bag machine in Vietnam Airlines and other airlines if leased aircraft. I knew all Vietnam Airlines aircraft have NO EFB that why they are poor but some other any another airline same Thai Airways all 777 have NO EFB except Jet Airways India 777 have EFB leased to Thai Airways from 2010 to 2014. Last April 2015 I asked pilot Thai crew for where EFB in all new 777-300ER and they said that up to Thai Airways company policy but PIA good luck got EFB better. I hope PIA engineer can install EFB & camera into AP-BMG and AP-BMH soon before fly to USA Canada Middle East Europe UK inshallah. I saw Vietnam Airlines pilot use Apple iPad for EPB

What exactly does the EFB help with? My knowledge is limited to it offering airside lay outs. Anything else? And why would the 772 need cameras? The 773 because of its length requires it. And if I remember correctly, our 772's don't have cameras to assist with taxiing, correct?

According to a PIA spokesperson statement in today's newspaper, EFB will be installed in AP-BMG by the end of January 2016. Aircraft leasing company AerCap will bear cost of this installation.

Today, Vietnam Airlines Boeing 777-2Q8ER registration VN-A150 performed test flight from & to Ho Chi Minh City. The test flight was completed in one hour & forty-four minutes. Probably acceptance flight for PIA and/or Pakistan CAA?

This Boeing 777 is expected to join PIA as AP-BMH.

That's good, so by next week PIA will be getting one B777 and one A320's in her fleet. After many years, looks to me PIA is finally heading in right direction.
