For how long PIA will be dependent on Leases ? When will they plan to buy their own aircrafts?

PIA should accept only those Boeing 777s that are powered with GE90 engines.

Ideally PIA should get the Kenyan birds that are built in 2013-2014

Re: PIA to Acquire up to Three Wide-body Aircraft on Dry Lease
The arrival of three 777-300s hopefully ex Kenya Airways aircraft would be a great boost to PIA capacity.
PIA needs to make a comprehensive strategy to beat the Arab airlines who are killing PIA in Europe and North America.
PIA cannot match their high frequencies, so the other option is code share with a good reliable airline.
Turkish option seems to be the only one.

Re: PIA to Acquire up to Three Wide-body Aircraft on Dry Lease
Interesting. Since PIA has accepted bids for 9, does that mean it is proceeding with inducting 9 or does it mean that 9 have qualified and 3 will be chosen out of these?
And if we've learnt anything over the years, what PIA should do and what PIA will do are two very different things. Case in point = 6 GE 310s and 6 P&W 310s, and the list goes on and on.

I think PIA will select three from them and may opt to select more if required.Charliedelta11 wrote:Interesting. Since PIA has accepted bids for 9, does that mean it is proceeding with inducting 9 or does it mean that 9 have qualified and 3 will be chosen out of these?

An extremely credible source has informed me that PIA will be inducting all of them.Saaray 9 air crafts.Everyone should remember that P.M Nawaz Sharif directed PIA to induct 10 Boeing 777s.Be ready to have 18 b777s in our fleet Allahumdulillah. May Allah bless our country with more happiness and take our airline to those times where it was once as one of the best in the world Ameen

That is very uneconomical and unwise to have a mixed engine fleetPIA ap-bkz wrote:An extremely credible source has informed me that PIA will be inducting all of them.Saaray 9 air crafts.Everyone should remember that P.M Nawaz Sharif directed PIA to induct 10 Boeing 777s.Be ready to have 18 b777s in our fleet Allahumdulillah. Do we really need 18 B777? Before that we need to raise our standerds to the level of Emirates and Etihad. Decent smiling crew and other IFE facilities...increase the flow of passengers and open new lucrative routes....transit facilities and other airport charms...

Re: PIA to Acquire up to Three Wide-body Aircraft on Dry Lease
In a recent tweet Mr. Shujaat Azeem mentioned addition of three dry leased Boeing 777s in PIA fleet.
