Privatization of PIA
The government of Pakistan often pumps money in PIA to keep it afloat.
Somebody recently mentioned that why is the government expected to foot the bill for new planes for PIA when they would not do for Aero Asia, Shaheen or Air Blue.
I agree with that, no government money should be given to PIA. If it can't survive on its own after 50 years of exsistance, well then it should shut down.
I think its about time that PIA is privatized. And none of this bullshit 51% or 26% of controling shares, all 100%.
The privatization will end the slow process of decision making that has plagued PIA for decades. Plus the intereferance of the Ministry of Defence.
It would be best if a foreign airline buys PIA (Kenya Airways bought by KLM and Srilankan Airlines by Emirates) are examples of how these airlines have done really well under foreign ownership.
A private PIA will be lean and an efficient airline, and is the need of the hour.
Why is the government not privatizing PIA??????
Banks, Power Plants, PTCL, Fertilizer Plants, Cement Factories, all sold, so why not PIA.
An airline that need 9,000 employees is paying for 22,000 how does it manage?

Privitization of PIA, that is never going to happen for atleast 20 years. When the govt. presently has free use of aircrafts when ever it needs a jet for a joy ride. If PIA is privitized then govt. will will have to pay to someone to fly, offcourse govt does not care where the so called Tax payers money go but govt would be hard pressed without a free alternative.
This Privitization is pure BS and lip service. This will die after 2 weeks like always. It catches fire when some catastrophe happens like the A300 crash in Nepal. Nawaz and the pundits said the same crap but then after 2 weeks ice cold water was poured on to the hot coals to cool the issue down. This is now happening again. Wait and see

The government of Pakistan needs to creat a new commuter airline to take over the "social" or commuter routes of PIA.
Basically the former F.27 flights.
An airline with a fleet of around 10 ATR42-500s serving routes which PIA considers social or loss making.
Once the losses of these routes is off the balance sheet of PIA, it should make more attractive for foreign airlines to buy PIA.
The government can run that airline on no loss no profit basis and "serve" the public of Pakistan as it is so good in doing.
I even have the perfect name for it:
INDUS AIRLINES
Representing the river Indus, the life line of Pakistan.
Anyways just a thought that might help PIA get privatized as the question of social routes have always kept potential PIA buyers away from Pakistan.

Yes, if the airline is privatised, how are all those top brass going to travel for next to nothing and those MNA's be able to carry firearms on board the a/c, alongwith excess luggage and their chamchas et al.
PIA is their only ticket to unrestricted and often free travel and you cannot expect them to give all that up can you?
If it is privatised, and I'll be the happiest person around if it is, it should be taken over by some other reputable company with previous experience in the airline industry, not some ABCD or BBCD who'll just keep the airline stagnant. As Amaad said, another airline maybe like SIA, MAS or QR could really turn the airline around but sadly I seriously cannot see that happening in our lifetime at least.

Brothers, the best way of prosperity of PIA is to perform wudu and offer two nafal prayer and then pray to Allah because He is the One who can prosper it. Neither Emirates nor KLM can be means of its success. Why? because PIA is an airline of a Muslim country, hence, the approach should also be of a Muslim way. The unbelievers say that so and so person or so and so organisation can salvage. Finally, this is the reason why our country is backward in every field because of our terminated reliance on Allah. Sitting for hours and hours in TV shows or in forums blaming others with abusing words and wondering why doesn't this happen is, believe me, totally futile. Instead it is thousand times better to to do what is above mentioned.
It was so heart wrenching and crippling when the Fokker crash occured. The crash itself was deadly, but the response in this forum was deadlier. Some members even used, indirectly, some of the most blasphemous and darogatory words which should not be even used for an unbeliever. But overhere many got slaves of their emotions and did what should not have been done. Immortality is foremost factor, when a person forgets that he has to return to his Lord unannounced. This fatal crash is infact a lesseon for us as well that how those people said goodbye to their loved ones in the morning not knowing that this their last meeting. We should have a firm belief in the fact that death is inevitable and can come any time, any date without restriction and without any prior information.
I sincerely pray from core of my heart for the victims of the crash for the highest place in the eternity and for the betterment of PIA and its employees because this is the one only way for prosperity.
This reply is bit out of topic, but I believe it was necessary for forum members and other visitors to know how their ambitious and woderful ideas can really come into implementation.

Its not just PIA that needs to be prayed for. The whole country needs to be prayed for.
At the end of the day, it is going to have to be someone, person, body, being, whatever you may call it, who will have to turn the airline around. We can't throw all our problems and issues to God in the hope that divine intervention will save the day. We have to make some sort of effort ourselves too and if we keep facing each problem with 'Allah se dua karo, wo sab sahee karay ga' then don't expect much to happen. Thats just looking for an easy way out. He put us on this earth and gave us two eyes, arms, legs and a brain for a reason......that we use them. He is there for us to turn to in times of despair and the possible privatisation of PIA would not really qualify as such a desperate situation that we turn to God for help. People need to get off their butts and not sit back and think that 'Allah sab kuch kar le ga' and then expect everything to be dropped into their laps from above.

I agree God should not be invoked for such petty issues, I'm sure hes least interested in the succcess or failure of a state owned airline, and that too in a country where millions are living in absolute misery in every way, now if PIA was owned by some family as their core business and it was failing and they prayed to God to help their business survive, then it would be different, ofcourse their prayers would be alongside efforts to save the business.
Mind you no miracles are taking place for Saudi Arabian Airlines either, and on the other hand you have booze serving Emirates and Qatar Airways booming.
On another note my Mashallah's and Subhanallah's didint make any difference in saving Pashmina tail design which done away with in just a years time, it has left me quite disturbed, oh and no amount of mailing PIA and telling its management to revive that scheme or praying for it to be revived worked either, and yes I actually prayed for the livery to be revived, even during Umrah

Its comments like this that keeps getting the tax payers money into PIA every five years.PIA is part of Pakistan's national security assest
What will happen if PIA is privatized???????????????
India will invade Pakistan
Pakistani Punjab will join the Khalistan movement
Pakistan will lose its nuclear weapons
India will find out all military secrets of Pakistan
El Al will buy PIA and Israel will spy on Pakistan
Zardari will be elected President
Sindh will break away with Jinnahpur as its capital
Baluchistan will become an independent country and join the axis of evil
Please somebody explain what national security interests will be damaged should god forbid PIA gets privatized.
I would imagine that privatizing the banking sector of Pakistan would have been more risky, putting the cash deposits of the entire nation at the hands of the few, and who knows maybe even the Indians.

Amaad, you really want to know what would happen if it were privatised? Exactly what you have listed above. Common sense and logic have no place in our country which why it is sadly the way it is right now. Reasoning, rationality and straightforwardness are adam to them.
In Pakistan, you don't pull your right ear with your right hand. You take your left hand, put it over your head and then pull your right ear. Thats how things are done.

Pakistanis make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Israel is the most security conscious country in the world.
And even they privatized EL AL (their national flag carrier).
Well the reason PAF has to provide a replacement for the F.27s is because the slow process of decision making at PIA, thanks to MOD.
Had a private airline needed these planes, the decision would have been taken years ago.
But all the aircraft lobbies headed by ex PAF and Army people kept the order pending for an extra ten years.
Anyways, its about time Pakistanis became less paranoid about their security, as India knows everything there is to know.

I am not a politican that I would do nara bazi. Please specify the facts as to why PIA should not be privatized.I gave you facts but you issue statments like all of our politicians i.e. naara bazi
Code: Select all
but you talked about a zionist jail state of Israel By the way most people don't know what zionism or zionist means, and hardcore zionist don't belive in the state of Israel. They don't want Jews to live in one country, or make a Jewish state. A true Zionist would belive that Jews need to spread out in the world and spread their religion and beliefs. Uneducated people made the word zion (Jew) to Zionist someone who loves Israel.
But this is not a discussion about Israel, Jews or Zionism lets get back to our history lesson on how PIA should remain state owned.
