Prime Minister Imran Khan discussed major proposals presented at a high-level meeting to turn around the financially troubled national flag carrier.
The prime minister chaired the meeting at the PM Office earlier this month, which was attended by top cabinet members, civil bureaucracy and military officers.
A special one-off grant of Rs485 million was approved for domestic repair and upgrade of the flight entertainment system of Boeing-777 aircraft owned by PIA.

"domestic repair and upgrade". I dont understand how are they planning to do with dated, poorly maintained 10+ years old IFE systems. 485 million is quite alot of money for "domestic repair and upgrade"
Best bet would be to finance cabin upgrade to industry standard. Wasting so much money on just repair is not good option.

IFE will be restored through indigenous plan prepared by an officer of Pakistan Air Force (PAF), this was disclosed by Acting CEO PIA Air Marshal Arshad Malik at a press conference on January 15.
The IFE system will be restored on aircraft gradually in three to four months' time with government's financial support.

This 'indegenous' repair is a very risky idea. I wonder what FAA, CAA (Pak) and Boeing have to say about this. I think the Airforce DJ is not aware of regulations governing commercial aviation.

Agree with it. Such plans fail because they do not meet technical and regularity requirements.Mansoor Mela wrote: Mon Jan 28, 2019 3:00 pm This 'indegenous' repair is a very risky idea.
