According to news sources, warning gunshots were fired from the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC) towards a civilian helicopter carrying Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Farooq Haider and his ministers in Tarori area near LoC. The helicopter landed safely in Haveli. The privately-owned helicopter was hired for carrying PM Haider and his ministers. The helicopter inadvertently crossed the designated airspace by negligible distance, says PM Haider. I learnt about firing only after landing in Kahuta/Haveli, he said.
Apparently the incident happened around 11:43 AM (Pakistan Time).
Indian Army Public Relations Officer Lt. Col. Devender Anand said a white-coloured Pakistani helicopter had violated Indian airspace around noon on Sunday.
It entered around 700m inside the Indian territory and flew over Krishna Ghati sector before returning, he said.
Air sentries at forward locations had engaged it with small arms, a move intended to warn the pilot about the intrusion and force the chopper to turn back. The chopper wasn’t hit.
Defence sources said the chopper flew over Gulpur area across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Krishna Ghati sector at 12:13 pm before returning to Pakistani airspace.
