New Pakistani airline - Air Indus
Check this out:
http://www.airindus.com.pk/
I don't want to be overly skeptical, but all the recent media-frenzy regarding PIA's failing stature is suddenly starting to make much more sense. There are rumors that the airline is owned by Miss Faryal Talpur, sister of President Asif Zardari.

This website has been up there for a year and discussed here in another thread. Looks really amateurish.

Public notice published in November 25 newspaper informing general public that upcoming Pakistani airline 'Air Indus' is neither owned nor sponsored or backed by any person or party or group having any political entity or nexus in the country.

Re: New Pakistani airline - Air Indus
Air Indus website www.airindus.com.pk has been updated.
On fleet page, induction of three Boeing 737 (series ?) aircraft is mentioned. But website homepage shows modified image of an Airbus A320 family aircraft in Air Indus markings.
Planned route network shows flights to/from Karachi, Quetta, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar.
Air Indus slogan will be 'Fly With Difference' and it intends to be a low cost airline.

Re: New Pakistani airline - Air Indus
putting up photoshoped picture of A320 and talking about acquisition of B737s ... could this be another aero asia, bhoja air with state of the art airplanes??? also noted another picture of B757 in one of the rotation picture ad on the website.
Why the business men in our country are not willing to invest same way as our neighbouring country India is doing...see the private airlines of India how they have grown up and just check out their ordering back logs. Pakistan is far away.... if the management of air indus is so serious in business then let them acquire new aircrafts direct from manufacturer who ever they choose suitable for their flight operations / routes.
Dubai air show was an excellent choice for them to reveal such order of airplanes if they have had any plans finalized

They will create a massive hype initially about the launch and getting 'state-of-the-art' aircrafts. And then suddenly it will wrap up operations within few months without a solid reason given.
This is the state of aviation business in our country. No management, no experience, no forward-thinking approach, incompetent and unprofessional staff.

Re: New Pakistani airline - Air Indus
I am no big fan of Air Indus but I think it is not right to compare it with the Old Bhoja and Hajvairy airlines. If you look at those airlines, they invested minimum amount of money by getting busted up Soviet origin Yaks, Antonovs and Ilyushins for peanuts on ACMI to save the cost of getting the crew type rated etc. All they wanted was to make a quick buck and exit the market when ever desired. If Indus is sending 28 pilots for a free type rating and bringing in western origin aircraft, then just like Airblue, it indicates their seriousness about staying here. Airblue, which started almost 8 years ago, is running even today and from the pilots' point of view, it has done wonders for people. It has around a 100 pilots today and almost the same number are flying all over the world after leaving Airblue with an A320 type rating and experience.
I think Indus will not only stay but do well inshallah. If it does succeed,it will provide bread and butter and a better future to lots of people.

A population of 120 million people, prospering middle class, 9.5% GDP growth, magnet for investors world over. Compare this to current situation in Pakistan, shrinking businesses, GDP growth stalling at 2%, middle class receding and poverty increasing. 70% of pakistanis earn less than oneway fare b/w isb-khi.raihans wrote:Why the business men in our country are not willing to invest same way as our neighbouring country India is doing...see the private airlines of India how they have grown up and just check out their ordering back logs.

Re: New Pakistani airline - Air Indus
THE DOMESTIC SERVICE should given up by PIA and flown by private carriers
also it seems the train sector has opened a private business lounge and new private run train(todays DAWN has pic)
like Pakistan should also let the private sector take over Airports

Re: New Pakistani airline - Air Indus
Presently none of privately owned airlines seems to be interested or in position of operating many of domestic flights that are operated by PIA to establish air link between different parts of Pakistan.
Privately-owed airlines are allowed to operate domestic flights to all airports of Pakistan but presently airlines like AirBlue and Shaheen Air appear interested only in operating flights to/from major airports Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar on their domestic route network probably to keep their operations on domestic flights profitable or to keep losses low on domestic flights.
I think privately owned airlines do not want to suffer losses by operating domestic flights from smaller airports of Pakistan.

AbbasThe man behind Karakoram Motors, Abdul Wahab, is the lead investor of Indus Air. “He has been wooed into the business by former PIA officials who are on the board of directors of the carrier,†the CAA official said. Wahab was not available for comments.
A general manager at Karakoram Motors’ office said nothing has been finalised as yet. The model of aircraft is still being considered, the official added.
However, according to CAA, the airline has contracted four Boeing 737-300 aircraft from a company in Bulgaria. Aircraft inspectors will shortly fly to the country to review the condition of the aircraft, official said.
