On 16/Feb/2011 SV817 flight from Jakarta - Riyadh - Madinah was on its final leg landing MED approaching rwy 17 with 300 passengers on board.
The 747-368 was HZ-AIS under command of senior captain Yousef Falatah.
According to some unofficial news that after touchdown at MED all equipments of breaking the plane was failed to stop the plane and at others are saying that because of steep turn the plane went out of the rwy and third opinion is that there was technical problem that caused to this accident.
Waiting for investigation report what they will say.

Hmmm what are the chances that this bird will be repaired and take off again? I hope nobody was hurt and that all are safe.

Lufthansa Cargo thanks , there was no injuries Alhamdulilah , 95% the aircraft will be scraped because they are saying its (Beyond Economical Repair - BER), also SV will take out their B747-100/300 totally out of service in few months as their new B777/ A330 planes arrives.
So, lets see what they will decide about it.

Is it possible to know exact nature of damage suffered by this Boeing 747 ? and speed of the aircraft at the time of incident ?
Usually airliners making runway/taxiway excursion at slow speed do not suffer serious damage and often get repaired. Specially when there's soft ground like sand in this case to act as soft cushion for the aircraft.
It will be interesting to know why this particular Boeing 747 has been declared as damaged beyond economical repairs ? Probably aircraft's fuselage or wing section section got cracked ?

Re: Saudia B747-300 went out of rwy in Maddinah
I saw a thread on this accident on A.net and only after 8 replies it died. One of the fellows there said that both engines 1 and 2 are on ground and left main/wing gear has been damaged resulting wing being bent!. After seeing these pictures all sort of possibilites are possible due to weight, speed and how hard impact to the ground was even as it rolled off the taxi war or runway. From the way things are today, if wing is internally damaged/bent or if any section of fuselage had ever so slightly buckled "AIS" has done its flying carrier for good. Chances of repairing her are very slim as SV is moderenizing there wide body fleet and unfortunatelly B741/3 are on there way out very soon.
It's very very sad to see "AIG" already scrapped and now "AIS" might see end of its flying days and would get scrapped too, both of these 747s are ones my family n i have travelled the most on back in the Saudia days/years.....
Anyone have models of AIG or AIS pls get intouch with me....i have special connection with these 2 SV B747s....

Anyone have more latest info on AIS's current status, i heard a rumor that she is in hanger now getting fixed!!, i hope this is the case with AIS. On personal level chances of repairing her are very slim...
