I would imagine you gentlemen would be interested in this accident.
I just received an e-mail which reveals that the investigation is progressing well and the CVR and DFDR have been de-coded. Evidently the Captain was sleeping in the cruise on the way back from DXB. Whether this has a bearning on the crash is not clear. Pilot's do take naps on the flight deck and in longer haul aircraft as we all know there is a proper rest area for the crew. There is nothing wrong with napping -- in turn! He may well have felt quite refreshed after his nap/sleep.
But it is clear that he botched the approach and was "hot-and-high" landing some 4,000' down an 8,000' "table-top" runway (ideal touch down point is 1,000' from the runway threshold with a TCH of 50' AGL). I am sure company regulations say you must be "stabilized" at 1,000' AGL and if not go-around.
But there is a strong underlying temptation in such cases to "get home". Additionally executing a go-around means having to submit a report and a possible "investigation".
The co-pilot kept telling him to go-around which he did eventually but it was too late and he ran out off runway and plunged into a deep ravine. The a/c exploded.
Full CVR is not yet available.
What is commendable is that unlike us, the Indian's have a full board of enquiry under a Judge and a full report is due to be published next month. We should give the devil his due.

Abbas,
Moved where?
All air accidents are fascinating to me especially when human factors are involved so I would hope there will be some discussion now that a full report is about to come out.
Sorry for posting incorrectly.
