Just came to know another private airline (based in Kuwait) beginning its flight operations in 2009 and checked out the website. I think they will initiate their flight ops with A320 type aircraft for short haul routes within GCC states.

Claims for loss can be registered

KUWAIT CITY, March 16: The Board of Wataniya Airways met Wednesday to discuss the company’s financial condition and options for the company going forward. As a result, the Board has decided to call a meeting of the company’s shareholders as soon as possible to discuss the future course of the company, says a statement issued by Wataniya Airways.
In the meantime, given the current financial situation of the company and the lack of fair trade requirements in the local market, as well as the difficult political and security situation in the region, the Board has decided to cease all Wataniya Airways operations with the return of its last scheduled flight to Kuwait tonight, March 16th 2011.

The Board of Wataniya Airways apologises unreservedly to all parties for the inconvenience and disruption this will cause.

Those guests with flights booked after March 16th 2011, will need to make alternative travel arrangements. Guests should contact Wataniya Airways to register their claims for the loss of their Wataniya Airways flight or holiday on [email protected], or by mail to:

Recently, Wataniya Airways, Kuwait’s best airline, in cooperation with the Egyptian Embassy in Kuwait and travel agents, has launched a tourism initiative called ‘We Love Egypt’ to encourage tourism to Egypt following the revolution on Jan 25. The initiative was launched with a special visit by tourists flying with Watanya Airways from Kuwait to Sharm El Sheikh and Cairo.

Jassim Al Qames, Wataniya Airways’ Head of Public Relations said: “As a national Kuwaiti carrier, we are proud to take part in this Arab show of support and help build a new bridge of love and communication between the Kuwaiti and Egyptian peoples.

“This initiative is to support the tourism industry in Egypt and help it return to normal, especially in key tourism areas such as Sharm El Sheikh and Cairo. Egypt always attracted many visitors from Kuwait and it is now open and ready to welcome them again.”
