Post by cpt_747 »

Just read on a.net that foreign airhostesses in PIA to be sacked. Does anybody have any more info on this? It's sad, if its true.
The orbital speed of the Earth around the Sun averages about 30 km/s or 18 mps (108,000 km/h or 67000 mph).
Which means we're travelling 97 times the speed of sound. And yet we can't feel the motion,

Here's an idea...

Regardless of gender, nationality or pay scale, Why not just sack the Flight Attendants that can't do their job properly, are rude to the punters and have no clue what customer service is?

Well I'm sure those foreign girls know how to do their jobs properly but this isn't the way you start downsizing. Not that those girls would mind too much as they can easily go and apply to other carriers like EK, QR, EY etc and with their prior experience will get snapped up in no time if they're still within the age bracket.

This airline is becoming a bit too nationalist. Not much 'International' left in it.

I agree; and that is because we have too many nationalist politicians who think they have the right to travel on PIA free of cost, but do not tolerate professional people in the airline be it foreign airhostesses...

The standing committee should find out why the Kenyans ware flying on all international routes like singapore on new year London Canada and the hard working Malaysian and Thailand or the beat Japanese on only to their home base and when given dismissal orders the airline had to pay minimum 2  years salary as per their country law great people to fly with

theres no need to hire foreign air hostesses. theres plenty of girls in pakistan that can use this money to further their education or add extra income to their households. I think the previous directer had a thing for oriental chiks thats wht he hired them. it isnt about nationalism or anything, its about if it is a gov . airline its for its citizens. tax payers money should be used for foreigners. and theres limited jobs for girls in pak anyway.

The only reason PIA hired these foreign airhostesses is because of their language ability.

But paying $5,000 (as someone had mentioned) to them per month, while our ATR42 first officers get 93000 rupees, is not fair.

Maybe PIA should hire girls who can speak the foreign languages.

Besides 99.9% of people of PIA can speak english, or urdu.

So it was just a lot of nakhra.

Removing this expensive staff is a step in the right direction.

PIA’s foreign Air Hostesses to be replaced

ISLAMABAD:
State Minister for Defence Ali Asjad Malhi told the Senate on Wednesday that 45 foreign airhostesses were working in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and they would be sacked soon.

Malhi said that PIA had employed 45 foreign airhostesses during January 2005 to September 2006. He said that the foreign airhostesses were paid Rs 170,767 per month besides other allowances, while their Pakistani colleagues were getting only Rs 13,000 per month as basic salary.

The minister said that after receiving a question from the Senate, he came to know about this discrimination and instantly ordered cancellation of the foreign airhostesses’ contracts. He said the government would ask from PIA why it had employed foreign airhostesses when the organisation was already running into loss and there was unemployment in the country.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15: Minister of State for Defence Ali Asjad Malhi admitted that the high salaries being paid to the foreigners was a discrimination against the Pakistani airhostesses who were getting just Rs13,000 as basic salary.

The information put before the Senate revealed that the foreign airhostesses were getting up to Rs170,767 besides bulky allowances.

The minister said after receiving the question, he got to know about this discrimination and right away ordered to terminate the contracts with the foreign airhostesses.

He said out of the total 45 foreign airhostesses inducted from January 2005 to September 2006, 10 Kenyans had already been sacked and the rest would be fired soon.

This is open discrimination against Pakistani air hostesses. Pakistani nationals should get fair & just treatment in a Pakistani company like PIA.

If PIA wishes to retain some of the foreign cabin crew then there should be equal salary package for both Pakistani and foreign air hostesses.

EK's, QR's and EY's hire only dirt cheap girls from east europe. They have no place for these expensive ones.

What is use of National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad. PIA could have hired from local market and trained then there.
