Hi all,
Yesterday (July 5th 2025) I traveled with PIA after a long time, flying from Muscat to Islamabad on PK292. I’m not someone who complains without reason, but I did notice a few things that, in my opinion, could be potential safety concerns.
First, PIA announced that extra legroom seats (the emergency exit row) were available for sale. When no one purchased these seats, the flight departed with all the emergency exit seats empty. Isn’t this against standard procedures? In Europe, I’ve seen cabin crew ask passengers to occupy these seats specifically so someone is available to operate the exit in case of emergency, which makes sense. On this PIA flight, however, when a passenger asked if he could move to the emergency exit row, the crew said those seats were only for sale and could not be assigned otherwise.
Is this standard practice, or is it a safety issue?
Secondly, I noticed that the cabin lights, including the toilet sign (green/red), were blinking throughout the flight—especially during takeoff. The toilet sign kept switching between red and green, which made me wonder if there was a loose electrical connection. Could this be dangerous?
I’m not an expert, but these things caught my attention, and I wanted to ask if anyone here can clarify whether these are safety standard violations, or if such things are normal.
Thanks for your insights.

Re: Is PIA compromising on security?
emergency exit rows remain empty throughout the flight could due to policy makers in PIA who have ZERO knowledge in aviation safetybukhari917 wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 9:28 am Hi all,
