May be PIA needs fewer club class seats say only two rows of club class. Getting rid of it altogether may not be a good idea.
PIA doesn't just need fewer club class seats, it also needs a newer/better club class. What is the target clientele for the current cabin? Not business class travellers obviously, since a) no IFE b) broken seats c) food is basically economy class (not even served in proper crockery and cutlery). That's why they rebranded it to Exec Economy, but this is even worse than most airlines' premium economy. In reality, the target clientele are those pax who might want a last minute upgrade for a few extra thousand rs. PIA Business Class is no longer business class in any sense of the word. I think until they can fix their premium cabins, better to just do economy. No club class pax would fly PIA over VS, EK, QR or BA - you'd have to make it dirt cheap to attract pax and at such prices, it's just more economic to put 2 economy seats instead of one club.

These five 777s can be used for routes where premium passengers are willing to pay the extra 20%, allowing PIA to compete better with airlines like virgin and BA once UK opens up, where PIA can use its 2 class 777s. The LRs can continue their Canadian flights with the upgraded PE seats.
787s have premium economy layout of 2-3-2 and on the 777 its 2-4-2.
Wouldn't be profitable even on UK routes unless PIA could fill up the cabin at a reasonable price. I doubt they can - 3 years without PIA, most UK/US premium pax have now shifted to other airlines and won't be coming back unless it's almost half the price of VS/BA/ME3. At that price, I doubt it is profitable. Really need to improve their business class offering if they want to start making money from club - business class is usually the cash cow for most airlines and sadly it's the opposite in PIA.
On a separate note, why is PIA still going 9 abreast? Go 10 abreast - every airline I can think of does 10 abreast in 777.
Whoever can fly business class will surely not prefer PIA for it (for international routes).
Maybe on 2x 777-200LR this class can be retained.

First they should upgrade both of the B-777 LRS on priority by:
Installing light weight seats in economy class.
Add seats in economy class by putting 3-4-3 configuration instead of current 3-3-3 configuration.
Decrease 50% business class seats in favor of adding extra economy class seats.
1. I am not sure how the people will react to 3-4-3 configuration. It gets pretty cramped but still a plausible idea as many airlines are doing it for ULH flight
2. Would not recommend doing that since seat factor for business class on these ULH routes is very high despite no IFE. Most of the time they are full. But yes, refurbishment is definitely needed.
These very people fly EK and QR on 777s to ULH destinations in a 3-4-3 configuration. I see no problem in switching to 3-4-3 configuration, it will only increase PIA's supply of seats per flight.
Business class should only be kept on 777s flying to Canada, IST and KUL. Rest should be in Y (3-4-3) and Y+ (2-4-2) configuration.
PIA should directly procure seats and install the seats themselves. Why does PIA need a third party to install new seats? Pretty sure they have changed seats in the past as well.

Update?
No update whatsoever, all 777s still hold the same configuration. They need 62Γ5= 310 extra economy class seats to convert 5 777s into all economy layout and replace the 35 business class seats on each aircraft. They probably don't have these many extra seats even if they source them from the grounded BGL.
New CEO should look into this matter and retrofit interiors of the few remaining 777s in service even if 4-5 are refitted with new economy seats by Recaro without IFE (for low cost) and provide free wifi onboard it definitely will improve passenger experience with minimum investment, and improve airline revenue by alot.
All 777s have a lot of life left as they are grounded most of the times 25-28 yrs is industry wide retirement age of 777s
I'm guessing they just haven't been able to do it due to a lack of funds? At this point getting the grounded aircraft up is a bigger priority so all hands on deck for that I assume.
