PIA Celebrates Iqbal Day at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport

Iqbal Day - November 9 - the birthday of Muhammad Iqbal - the National Poet of Pakistan - was celebrated by PIA at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport which is also named after the poet. The poet's grandson Waleed Iqbal was invited to the ceremony.

Acclaimed actor Samina Peerzada and passengers at the airport also participated in the ceremony.

PIA Celebrates Iqbal Day

Karachi, November 9, 2018: PIA celebrated Iqbal day with national fervor both at field offices and in flight. An impressive ceremony was held at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore on Friday. Among others the ceremony was attended by Mr. Waleed Iqbal grandson of Allama Iqbal.

A Bouquet was presented to Mr. Waleed Iqbal by Mr. Tariq Majeed, PIA Station Manager Lahore and Mr. Athar Awan Manager Public Relations. TV actress, Ms. Samina Peerzada was also present at the occasion along with other passengers and PIA officials. Mr. Waleed Iqbal and others cut Allama Iqbal birthday cake and sweets were distributed.

In his message to PIA employees the President & CEO PIA, Air Marshal Arshad Malik said that Allama Iqbal was a great visionary and Pakistan is the result of invaluable struggle of Allama Iqbal and our great Quaid Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said we will In Sha Allah take PIA to new heights of progress as envisioned by Allama Iqbal.

Iqbal Day was also celebrated in flight. PK-303 music and Kalam-e-Iqbal was played on the in-flight sound system. Kalam-e-Iqbal was also distributed among the passengers who appreciated PIA’s interest in celebration of Iqbal Day.

In field offices throughout the country the buildings were decorated with panaflex illustrating pictures and couplets from Iqbal’s poetry. It is to be mentioned that Iqbal Day is being celebrated for the first time in PIA.
