Russian authorities have detained Fakhr-e-Alam for having expired visa. He has sought help from the government of Pakistan.

Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has asked Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist the aviator.

Fakhr-e-Alam with expired visa is detained at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport where Russian authorities have asked him to return to Japan. He wants permission to continue his journey to Alaska.

Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua has directed Pakistan Embassy in Moscow to assist Fakhr-e-Alam.

News is, he has been given Visa and soon will be able to fly for its next destination.

According to latest statement of Fakhr-e-Alam, he's still under detention at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport where Russian authorities, so far, have not received instructions to release him.

Reports of issue resolved by Pakistan Embassy in Russia are not true, he says. Just one phone call can resolve the issue, he says.

According latest reports:

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has taken notice of the issue and himself is monitoring/reviewing the situation.

Pakistan's ambassador to Russia Qazi M. Khalilullah also has spoken on phone to Mr. Alam who is now at the airport for more than nineteen hours. The visa expired due to arrival of the aircraft delayed by two hours and date change.

Resolution of the issue is expected by tomorrow morning.
