According to news sources, engine of a PIA Boeing 777 performing airline's flight PK-710 from Manchester ingested a bird during landing at Lahore Airport today.
According to information on following link, today PIA Boeing 777-200ER registration AP-BHX landed at Lahore at 6:00 AM as flight PK-710 from Manchester.
PIA Boeing 777 registration AP-BHX departed from Lahore at 3:58 PM as flight PK-757 with a delay of more than six hours. The flight was scheduled to depart from Lahore at 9:30 AM.
Five passengers of flight PK-757 got themselves off-loaded because they did not feel safe travelling on aircraft that experienced engine problem and underwent repairs work.
Process of off-loading passengers also played role in delay suffered by PK-757.
Lahore Airport lounge staff is relieved on the departure of PK-757. Heated arguments between PIA staff and passengers due to delayed flight made the lounge look like war zone.
I made video of AP-BHX landing at Heathrow just before the runway threshold and will upload it tomorrow.
You will notice very clearly a strange humming sound coming from the engine(s).
I was about to report this as a concern but then noticed that the same aircraft has suffered bird strike and has had some sort of repair carried out. I must say having seen many 777 landings from close proximity, this engine sound was very distinctive and noticeable.
I hope PIA maintenance will do a thorough inspection oc its engines before its next flight.
On following link is photo of PIA Boeing 777-200ER registration AP-BHX approaching London Heathrow Airport as delayed flight PK-757 from Lahore on June 2.
Please see my video from Sunday 3rd June which shows AP-BHX at Runway 09L threshold at London Heathrow.
If you listen closely, you will hear a strange sound coming from the engine(s). I advise listening with headphones. You can also compare the sound with the other two 777s landing before PIA.
I must say having seen many 777 landings from close proximity, this engine sound was very strange and noticeable and certainly not normal.
