According to Dunya News channel, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has found that PIA deal for the procurement of five Boeing 777s was done in non-transparent manner without proper arrangement of funds due to which the airline was unable to make timely payments in installments for the ordered aircraft.

FIA has suggested investigation against individuals involved in the deal.

Won't Boeing confiscate that money as a penalty for order cancellation? What is the SOP in such cases?

In August 2016, Boeing offered opportunity to convert PIA's existing contract for five Boeing 777-300ERs into new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

As on date, Boeing still shows 5xB77Ws in PIA's order list as 'unfilled'
