But i doubt boeing will give any discount on the 787. They're selling like hot cakes and boeing wants to sell more of 773 to continue production. So what I see is PIA will get more 773, as it makes sense (and PIA can get greater discount). PIA will be returning one of the leased 777 (or extending) i think in 2017. Moreover, if the 5 777 comes in 2018 (12 months after agreeing to pay?), PIA will have multiple 777 at age of 13+ years. Alternatively, PIA can just get the last b777 (i think 2020), as by then, there will be 5 years of life left in the oldest 777, also by then PIA will have to return 3-4 b772 that will finish the 6 year lease.

Yes, B787 and 737 are bread and butter of Boeing.

So why do you think boeing will give 7-8 787-8 for 3 773?
They rather take the $50 m deposit in pure profits.

From what I've heard here is that PIA want to get 5+ 787 instead of 777.
From what I understand is, Boeing rather keep the 777 order in order to extend production which will deplete soon compared to 787 that is selling healthy.
What I think will happen is either PIA take the $50m loss or basically get 5 787-8/9.

787 is out of question now that we're getting a330s. I think PIA is just looking for discount now on the 77w or cancell it.[/quote]
The A330 are leased 787 will be owned.

But it's stupid to have 2 different pilots two similar Lind of aircraft's. Engineers. Spare parts and so forth.
I don't mind seeing 787 in PIA colors but I think at this point PIA shoukd just get the last 777 deliveries.
In the past pia representative have said it'll be ATR, a320, a330/787 and 777 fleet. Note the slash mark instead of comma.

Why? many airlines are operating such combinations around the world with no issues, and maybe A330s will go when 787s settle in.

I cannot see Boeing going that extra mile or giving preferential treatment to PIA as regards aircraft orders/deliveries. PIA is just another customer that in a span of 50+ years has only 5 times (720B, 707, 74M, 737, 777) ordered a small quantity of aircraft directly from Boeing and whatever discounts they offer PIA will be exactly that which they give to other airlines too and as has been said multiple times before, till its officially in print, on paper and in the news, everything is just hearsay and gossip.
Personally I think the A330-200 will be much much better suited as an A310 replacement as opposed to the 787 which will be totally new to PIA as the A330 has much more in common with the A310 as compared to the 787.

if PIA had ordered 787-10 for example and wanted to change to b772, boeing will give even bigger discount to PIA.
It just won't take any big loss for selling the plane it has no problem selling and taking the former off the sheet that it is struggling to sell until 2020 production year.

Wrong Pakistan has political clout now more than ever before due to region location.Moin wrote:I cannot see Boeing going that extra mile or giving preferential treatment to PIA as regards aircraft orders/deliveries. Not enough to make Boeing bend over backwards and give discounts over and above what they give to other airlines and premium customers such as EK, QR, EY, SV etc. PIA is not a high priority airline for them because they are well aware how things work in the airline and its financial situation. The facts are laid bare for all to see.

Politics rule, they need us, maybe military hardware is no go but commercial planes at discount to get political and economic benefits in return will definitely happen as did with 777 purchase, you scratch my back and I will scratch yours.

Not really.CoyBoy wrote:Politics rule, they need us, maybe military hardware is no go but commercial planes at discount to get political and economic benefits in return will definitely happen as did with 777 purchase, you scratch my back and I will scratch yours.
Apart from Boeing, what other choice PIA has? Airbus? Not like they'll give them a big discount. Secondly, boeing knows PIA will not order a350 or a380 if they are not able to buy b777.
It's not wheat that you can buy from 100s of countries and they're all same in the end.
In the end, boeing will give PIA a small discount and PIA will consider it a win. No way are they going to offer b787 for good discount.

Re: What about PIA order for Five Boeing 777-300ER Aircraft?
PIA did have a chance when Boeing was disposing off those first production 787-8's (the terrible teens) at heavily discounted rates which were picked up by Ethiopian, the Mexican Govt for VVIP use etc.
Besides if anything concrete would have happened, you don't think it would have been shouted from the rooftops by every news channel in Pakistan by now and reported in the international aviation media as well? Till its in print with photos to support it, everything is hearsay.
