Definitely a shame for the people of Pakistsn. What a genuine guy he was and working day and night for the betterment of aviation sector of Pakistan. I consider his resignation as a black day in history of Pakistan.
Allah hi hafiz hai aab is sector ka.

P.S he forgot to mention that he opened the Training centres at different stations and this all would have not been possible without his genuine intentions. He wanted to resposition AP-BFY at Lahore for the on job training of students of Lahore but I don't think so that would be possible anymore for the students.

Genuine or not, like Coyboy stated, he was doing something right. Changes in the CAA and visible changes In PIA were coming. Who will succeed him? Or is he the last?

Mr. Azeem's services in an honourary capacity appreciated by PM Sharif.

The case of Mr. Azeem's insubordination during service thirty-six years ago was ended by the competent authority. (What does it mean?)

If Mr Azeem was there on an honorary basis and was not taking any pay check from the government of Pakistan and was not officially listed as a civil servant of Pakistan then why he had to send his resignation to prime minister, he should have pull out his cell phone calling up prime minister telling him he was leaving .

If not a government employee why court want him go, people still believe he was doing wonders in civil aviation sector of Pakistan. what laws would apply if he keeps working in incognito.

In the press conference, Mr. Azeem said that "connections" were used to get gifts of ILS and cobuses.

The ILS and cobuses are gifted by Qatar.

Are these one-sided gifts or exchange of gifts?

If it's exchange of gifts then what's gifted by Pakistan to Qatar?

It's hard to believe that Qatar gifted these especially ILS without getting anything in return from Pakistan.

Indeed. Why not emirates, or any other ME airline? I assumed there was "collaboration" between multi ME airline to share cost, as it hurt their business with delays.

Perhaps there was something to do with LNG negotiations? Pakistan is buying LNG without doing bidding process. But no way a single airline will pay $25m + buses (don't forget cost of transferring buses to Pakistan) for nothing. Or maybe Qatar interested in investing PIA?

From today's express news Javed Chaudry's column:

"PIA was buying lower quality spare parts from local shops of Dubai, now because of Shujaat Azeem, PIA is buying directly from Boeing."

Is that true or a bit exaggerated?

BTW, if someone interested to know details about this "UNSUNG HERO", column (IN URDU) can be read at:

SC stops Shujaat Azeem from working as in charge of Civil Aviation

Says PM’s advisor has been court martialled, so he cannot hold public office

Says government was aware of the court martial beforehand but chose not to mention it in the summary

Supreme Court (SC) has stopped Advisor to Prime Minister (PM) on Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Shujaat Azeem from working as minister and in charge of CAA.

The court has also ordered attorney general of Pakistan (AGP) to file original summaries on induction of Shujaat Azeem despite his court martial and its legal and constitutional implications by February 16.

“When the order has already been issued about Shujaat Azeem that he would not exercise powers independently and would not hold status equal to minister, then why is he still exercising these powers?” Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked. “No mention was made about the court martial in the summaries. Sacking of government officials and disqualification of public representatives are two different things. No public office can be given to a government employee after he has been sacked.”

“How can a public office be given to a person who has been court martialled?” Justice Dost Muhammad asked.

A three-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Amir Hani Muslim took up the case for hearing on Friday.

Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Suleman Butt appeared in the court and said that proper time was not given by the court to file a petition.

Justice Amir Hani Muslim asked for the summary under which Azeem was appointed advisor.

“We have felt that court the martial has not been talked about in the summary,” he remarked.

The court asked for three other summaries including the CAA summary to be presented before it. “Who has prepared these summaries and on whose behest these summaries have been prepared? We want to review all of them,” the court remarked, and added, “He has held a press conference while the matter is sub judice.”

“He could not be appointed to this post after he was sacked from the Air Force,” Justice Amir Hani Muslim said. “The way the summary has been sent is completely in violation of rules and regulations. It seems from the summary that he was appointed to the post even though all the facts were known.”

Makhdoom Ali Khan said that if any person who is court martialled and is sacked cannot be appointed to public office then it will apply to all federal ministers and parliamentarians.

But Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked that “elected members of assembly and termination from government service are two separate matters”.

Justice Dost Muhammad asked that if a government employee is sacked due to misconduct then, can he be appointed to such top public office.

Makhdoom said that he cannot be appointed a civil servant.

Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi said that the court had restrained him from performing his duties. He said that he had given interview to a private TV channel.

“We have not stopped him from giving interviews. But he cannot talk about court’s matters,” the court remarked.

The court issued notices to Shujaat Azeem on the new application of Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi.

SC stops Shujaat Azeem from working as aviation in-charge

ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court (SC) has stopped PM’s Adviser Shujaat Azeem from working as Civil Aviation Authority in charge.

The apex court also ordered attorney general to file original summaries on induction of Shujatt Azim despite his court martial and its legal and constitutional implications until February 16.

Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked, “When order were issued about Shujaat Azeem that he would not exercise powers independently and he would not hold status equal to minister then why he is exercising these powers still. No mention was made about court martial in summaries. No public office can be given to a government employee after he is sacked.”

Attorney General Suleman Butt argued that proper time was not given by the court to file petition. On this, Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked, “We want summary under which he was appointed as adviser”.

Justice Amir Hani Muslim remarked, “He could he be appointed on this post after he was sacked from air force service. The way summary has been sent is all violation of rules and regulations. It seems from summary that he was appointed despite all the facts were known.” During the course of proceedings, Attorney General Salman Aslam Butt told the court that Shujaat Azeem had sought apology from air chief over court martial case, which was accepted in November last year. The court also sought details of documents on acceptance of Shujaat Azeem’s apology and maintained a stay order against him by restraining to issue important decisions.

Guys we don't having any experience people in Pakistan who can run the aviation? Are really out of 22 crore people we can't get any single person who can take charge of the aviation affairs and run it in profit?

During the Tenure of this Govt 1000 people had been recruited in PIA so The govt is looking someone not the professional but who can bow in front of them by saying Yes Sir.
