They are leased, only owners can do the retrofit or allow PIA to do that of course leasing company will have to pay.

Update:
Delivery flight further delayed and now planned on 25th sept.
Issue is from Air Asia's end :/

Re: PIA to Dry Lease Narrow-body and Turboprop Aircraft
I fail to understand one thing why PIA keeps on adding the 10 years A320s to their fleet. How much time they expect to last. Plus all these leased planes will go through expensive checks.
The best thing would have been to work out a plan with some leasing company and dry lease new A320ceos Sharklet equipped babies for 10 11 years. This could be very economical in times to come. you might answer the financial losses incurred by PIA in past.
But since i mostly deal with AIR INDIA matters. Their losses are more than PIA still they managed to get brand new 5 A320ceos within a year from China Leasing Company. Also to all Pakistani bros you will be surprised to see the statistics of Air India
Only 9 of Air India's 370 daily flights profitable
AI's profitable international flights are
Cochin-Kozhikode-Jeddah;
Kozhikode-Sharjah and
Kolkata-Yangon.
The profitable domestic ones are between
Delhi-Leh;
Delhi-Kolkata;
Leh-Jammu;
Delhi-Srinagar;
Srinagar-Leh
and Delhi-Hyderabad-Vijayawada.
I think PIA will be having better route profitability . Now they need some good Aircrafts to again be that glory in air what we all were proud of INSHAALLAH.

Today, AirAsia Airbus A320-216 under Malaysian registration 9M-AFM performed test flight AK-9982 from & to Kuala Lumpur. The test flight was completed in one hour and seventeen minutes. Probably delivery acceptance flight performed for PIA and/or Pakistan CAA.

This A320 is expected to join PIA as AP-BLZ.

Re: PIA to Dry Lease Narrow-body and Turboprop Aircraft
There are reports of AP-BLZ flown from Kuala Lumpur to Karachi on September 25.
Apparently the A320's delivery flight as AP-BLZ did not get tracked on FlightRadar24.com website:.

Probably after the end of Eid holidays PIA press release announcing the arrival of AP-BLZ will be released to media.
