You are right Haider.777.340. Abbas and aviator773 are taliking about first visit to India. We all know about the first international flight to Dubai that has already been discussed in this forum.Abbas Ali wrote:Dhaka Airport has very active and enthusiastic aircraft spotters/photographers and there's possibility of first photo of AP-BLA in retro livery at a foreign airport coming from Dhaka whenever AP-BLA visits that airport.aviator773 wrote:BLA might be operating PK 270 to Delhi today so the plane will have its first visit to India.

Looks good despite the mistakes, lets pretend they are celebrating 60s, 70s and 80s to 2000s era all combined in that scheme

Yes 4 ATR 42s will be up ..... sadly whenever engines are procured for the 5th atr, one of the operational atr's engine goes down so the engine is put onto that one. The procurement needs to speed up in providing timely spare to make atleast 5 Atr 42s operational.Sahil Ali wrote:Oh you bet man !!!! Waiting since almost 4 years now :/
Current first officers on ATRs are 42 !
An airline pilot and not just that u would be flying for the national flag carrier. Proud moments. That's worth waiting for. I hope the training goes on at the same pace or even speeds up more. Oh btw is PIA planning to make the 3rd and the 4th 42 operational after the completion of deliveries of 72's? They were planning to get engines for the 5th and 6th 42 too.
Hopefully next month there will be 10 ATR 72/42s operational in pia fleet leaving BHN the only unserviceable a/c
And yes waiting for those proud moments anxiously .... thanks

Re: PIA to Dry Lease Narrow-body and Turboprop Aircraft
PIA has lost one ATR42 to a landing accident in Lahore that should provide two extra engines for the remaining fleet of six aircraft.
How many engines has PIA destroyed in the 8-9 years of service of the ATR42??
And how does an airline manage to write off an engine??

What do u mean by PIA destroyed engines in last 8-9 years?
Mostly high life engines(near to completing their certified hours) face problems and need to be removed for overhauling.
Hence the procurement needs to speed up for spares so that engines are overhauled in time for the operational and grounded aircrafts to become operational.

Re: PIA to Dry Lease Narrow-body and Turboprop Aircraft
Procurement has been a major issue for engineering department at OPKC . I wonder why it has been in all the years , i hear now and again , one 777 has been grounded to make other fly , A310s are idle and case of ATRs is the same . I wonder what is all hindrance about . 77w AP-BHW ,6 month grounding was the worst example in 777s history . Can anyone highlight upon or suggest how can this issue be tackled !

^ Pretty simple answer, abundance of corruption and lack of money. Other way around fix that pretty easily.

Seven ATR42s were delivered to PIA in 2006-07.What? I didn't quite get your point ....

seems like a lot of PIA aircraft get grounded due to lack of spare parts, either for the engines or otherwise.
Is the airline not aware of such replacements, and if it is then why the delay in such procurement. Does it make sense to ground a precious aircraft rather then spend money on spares??
What is the number of hours that an ATR42 engine can operate before it need an overhaul??
removing parts of one aircraft to fit to another is hardly a long term solution.

Re: PIA to Dry Lease Narrow-body and Turboprop Aircraft
There are a lot of hindrances in procuring spares.
The PPRA rules create the biggest hurdles.
the tender when issued requires a month for bids to come in, after that the bids are evaluated and then the procurement is done.
Now the things are getting a bit streamlined since PIA has done CSP programs with OEMs and things are getting better.
hopefully by end of the year the things will be in a much better shape.
@Amaad lone
Do not disgrace the flag carrier by saying we destroy the engines. I always value ur feedback but this one was really absurd!
