PIA has made some of these 320's fly revenue flights 2 days after they landed here which includes the paint job too. Hope to see AP-BLS fly soon. On the other side ATR'S are getting ready for their delivery flight aswell.

Airbus A320-214 registration OK-MEI landing at Prague Airport, Czech Republic, with deployed Ram Air Turbine - RAT after completion of a test flight on June 2, 2015.
Apparently the RAT was deployed as a part of the test flight.

This A320 was delivered to PIA as AP-BLS on June 5, 2015.

Wouldnt it be better to paint BLS in correct retro livery and remove the retro scheme on BLA?

Dhaka Airport has very active and enthusiastic aircraft spotters/photographers and there's possibility of first photo of AP-BLA in retro livery at a foreign airport coming from Dhaka whenever AP-BLA visits that airport.aviator773 wrote:BLA might be operating PK 270 to Delhi today so the plane will have its first visit to India.

Cadet pilots from the second last batch which was inducted back in 2011 are having there refreshers at PIA Training Centre in karachi these days before they go for sim training. Things would get streamline after the induction of ATR'S and A320's too which will make some vacuum for the trainee pilots as senior first officers of ATR'S will be promoted to A320. Does anyone know the number of first officers operational at the moment on ATR'S?

Hopefully i get economics degree and can serve in management of PIA one day. Not as fun as flying, but purchasing new birds, deciding on tenders etc should be fun

^ Amen to that!
PIA needs young people from good universities in their management. However, for some reason people in PIA just fail to understand this and keep asking for older people with experience or the usual political reference hiring. Young people like you and I are passionate about this industry and care about the well being of this airline but there are barely any opportunities for us. Experienced people are important but at the same time they need to groom their own leadership from scratch, one which they can retain. They should have management trainee programs not only for MBA's but also Bachelors.
I really hope someone in the management takes note of this.

Re: PIA to Dry Lease Narrow-body and Turboprop Aircraft
Thing about young people is, they like to make quick decisions. For example, when I see tenders year after year, I'd instead go with first tender and pay a little extra than risk waiting more years for good tender to come. Sometimes we're wrong, but our wrong means a surplus in airline industry, which is fine in short term as you can fix it in long term. But shortage in short term means losing business in long term. Indeed Saudi last year refuse to sell oil for higher price and low quantity because they'd lose business then in long term (North America taking over in oil production). So they sell for low but give more quantity. One day the price will rise again and they'll still have their business.aviator773 wrote:^ Amen to that!

Elder people, they like to wait for things. So they'll float tenders after tenders ignoring that the shortage of aircrafts is lowering revenue and allowing foreign airlines to take business. They'll boost about how they found cheap plane rather than how the revenue and profit grew. Indeed they are very proud of their job if their losses from 5 billion rupees falls to 4 billion rupees of losses. So they're slow deduction maker and you'll often see them buying around Christmas or big sales events, which is fine in real world and young people do it too, but the thing is, in airplane industry, you're losing business to someone else. In electronics, not buying iPad in April but in December means $50 of saving but not using the product for 8 months. In airplane, losing business for 8 months and then getting $50 discount on lease and the business that is gone now.
We've always had like 30 or so planes in PIA fleet for good 30-50 years. More people are out of poverty, so more people are flying, yet we're still stuck with 30 or so planes of fleet. It simply means other airlines took away business, and it is true when you look at me3.

An airline pilot and not just that u would be flying for the national flag carrier. Proud moments. That's worth waiting for. I hope the training goes on at the same pace or even speeds up more. Oh btw is PIA planning to make the 3rd and the 4th 42 operational after the completion of deliveries of 72's? They were planning to get engines for the 5th and 6th 42 too.
