Re: Shaheen Air Flight Bursts Tyre During Landing at Karachi
I do not think that the Shaheen crew deserves any praise as they did not follow proper evacuation procedures. The damage had ruptured the wing and had resulted in a fuel leak. This was a very dangerous situation in which immediate evacuation through slides was necessary. I just think that the folks were simply lucky.Abbas Ali wrote:^ Sorry Jameel I don't have information about the crew.
Btw, last night a news channel showed some of flight's passengers at Karachi Airport praising and appreciating the way Shaheen Air cabin and cockpit crew handled this emergency situation.

To me this seems to be a (very) hard landing. Normally by 'landing gear' collapse, we mean locking mechanism failure resulting in folding of LG. In this case apparently an upright MLG leg has gone thru wing box (the strongest point in aircraft structure), which is an indication of very hi magnitude vertical force acting on wing-landing gear attachment. The same (but on both sides) was experienced on a BA B777 which landed short at LHR due to both engines failure.

so another near tragedy within 2 days.Praise to Allah it was not more serious,
shaheen so far seemed saved from these potentially fatal accidents.
in this case its one of their newly leasedb734 while they never got such problem with their b732- ironic,
any idea about the cause?

can it be due to the 737-400 being a new type in pakistan?TAILWIND wrote:To me this seems to be a (very) hard landing. Btw, a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 737-400 (registration 9M-MMR) also suffered port-side main landing gear collapse. Its landing gear collapsed when it was pushed back before engine start-up at Kuching Airport, Malaysia, on October 2, 2009.
According to a poster on www.pprune.org, passengers on that Malaysian Boeing 737 disembarked with their cabin baggage normally through forward door like in the case of Shaheen Air's AP-BJN.
The aircraft suffered damage that appears similar to damage suffered by AP-BJN.

Here's August 13, 2011, photo of 9M-MMR.

Shaheen Air's both Boeing 737-400s (AP-BJN and AP-BJU) are ex-Malaysia Airlines aircraft.

It could be, but the o/b tyre too is een deflated gives credence to the hard landing scenario. Definitely the real cause will come out after the investigation.Abbas Ali wrote: The aircraft suffered damage that appears similar to damage suffered by AP-BJN.

I doubt that can be a contributory reason. 737 family is not new in Pakistan and the pilots must have been trained and rated on 734.mac777 wrote:......

Re: Shaheen Air Flight Bursts Tyre During Landing at Karachi
Does anyone know if Shaheen Air is still operating with all 11 B737-200s (AP-BHA, AP-BHB, AP-BHC, AP-BIK, AP-BIP, AP-BIQ, AP-BIR, AP-BIS, AP-BIT, AP-BIU, AP-BJI) or have some of them been stored given the recent arrival of the B737-400s and all of the previous wet-leases? If yes, do you know where they are currently stored?
Best regards and thanks a lot

What is the status of AP-BJN?
Is it getting repaired? Any chances of it to fly again?

What airforce has to do with this.??????Squawk_1200 wrote:That would have been a one hell of an airforce style habits induced landing, chopping the power and dropping the airplane on the threshold, sturt could not take the jolt and raptured through the wing.

^^
mind-boggling negligence by the crew and CAA staff, and a lucky escape for passengers.
