Apparently it was AP-BKD, over 30 years old. Whether age and condition was a determining factor will only be known later. Sad.

This is second recent crash near ISB airport due to bad weather.
Airport needs better weather radar system and pilots need better training for that area.

Another accident on approach to Islamabad Airport. Even if we forget about other airports in Pakistan which are also poorly equipped with modern aviation instruments, Islamabad is capital and certainly needs a bit better of aviation systems installed. Many other souls perished, there will be hula gula for a few days as usual and then everyone will forget.
When will the *astards in CAA wake up and install some better weather radars, and most modern landing instruments, so flights can safely land in all weather conditions. There are many other places on earth where there is heavy rain most of the day with gusting winds and lots of lightning but we have never heard of such incidents over there.
And then who is responsible for allowing aircraft operators to use 30-40 years old redundant aircrafts and play with the lives of the people. Pakistan is becoming a heaven for obsolete Boeing 737-200's, thanks to these private airlines who want to get the cheapest aircraft and operate them inside Pakistan.

Apparently the witnesses say the aircraft had already caught fire while in the air, indicating it was struck by lightning. They said its wings were on fire. So most probably an unfortunate accident, nothing wrong with aircraft or airport ILS

Departed from Karachi at 5:05PM.
Crashed around 6:40PM
Was expected to land at Islamabad Airport at 6:45PM

Apparently the ill-fated Bhoja Air Boeing 737-200 was attempting to land on Runway 30 of Islamabad Airport.

Fuselage section.

Probably it's Boeing 737-236 Advanced (registration AP-BKC). Registration AP-BKC can be seen with list of cabin crew members who died in this accident.
