Its unfortunate that those who claim to be aviation experts, majors, colonels, commodores, generals etc etc are the ones with the least amount of knowledge about commercial aviation and don't belong in this field. Neither do they have the passion nor interest. As I said before, a good number of them wouldn't be able to tell a Boeing from an Airbus. If at all they will have knowledge about military jets and fighters but not civil airliners. Then we have our armchair aviators and experts chiming in. The result, a complete stew of misinformation, gossip, surmises, what if's and innuendos.

A Go-around caters for the acceleration segment + the turn so the radius is factored into it, unless the missed approach procedure was fed wrongly into the FMGS or the a wrong 'Direct To' selected resulting into flying towards the high ground. The missed approach in the FMGS for Runway 30 into ISB shows a infinity line on a Trk of 240 degrees magnetic, where as the ill fated aircrafts showed tracking towards the North - North West in the quadrant of the highest MSA.

The weather / trend (METAR) prevailing was as follow: (UTC+5 = Local Time)

(about 04:30 UTC) was : OPRN 280300Z 05016KT 2000 RA FEW015ST SCT040 BKN100 FEW030TCU 24/23 1006.5

OPRN 280400Z 05016KT 3500 SCT010 SCT030 BKN100 FEW030TCU 29/24 1006.7

OPRN 280500Z 09018KT 3500 RA SCT010 SCT030 OVC100 FEW030 25/24 Q1006.9

So as stated the weather appears not to be a significant factor reported at 0400 UTC ( 0900 LT) some scattered clouds at 1000 feet with a vis of 3500 m / 3.5 KM with towering cumulus at 3000 ft .........which is basically not an issue.

Only a thorough professional investigation would reveal the true facts rest is all 'guess work' at this stage.

Today, I found out those two U.S. Citizens were my dad's former boss' sister and her son who were somewhere from California,USA .Sadly, Former boss was also in that crash. May Allah forgive them and grant them Jannat. He was a really nice person and the owner of Hoffman Co. headquarters in Karachi.

Is there any possibility that the pilot, who already had been flying for the last 8 hours or so and extremely tiered, decided to give the first officer a chance to land the plane and then series of event happened and eventually things went wrong.

The hours Pilots and crew are restricted and you would expect and hope that airlines adhere to them. When flying ISB-MAN crew operate the flight from ISB-Trabzon and then there is a change of crew at Trabzon (4.5hrs - but I guess the same crew may also have done a domestic flight just prior to that KHI-ISB?) and then once the aircraft arrives in MAN, crew is changed again (plus cabin crew). The crew from MAN then change at Trabzon, after flying for only 4.5 hrs because if they didnt and continued to ISB, this would taken them to over 9 hrs.

So I doubt the crew flying for 8hrs plus was even a possibility. Come on this is not a bus on GT road that we are talking about!

Can we all just wait for the official investigations involving the black boxes and ATC recordings to come out and stop dispensing our own arm-chair opinionating?!

Khuda ki panah! :?

Flight ED-202 was domestic flight from Karachi to Islamabad, an AirBlue official also clarified it on a local news channel. The ill-fated flight had no link with any of airline's international flights.

And according to a news channel, on July 28, 2010, Capt. Iqbal Chaudhry left his residence in Karachi around 5:00AM to operate that day's flight ED-202 from Karachi to Islamabad. The ill-fated aircraft took off from Karachi around 7:50AM.

I know this is premature but do you think someone with greater knowledge of how this happened (based on what we officially know) will reproduce a simulation of this crash using FS?

May Allah Offer Jannah and blessings on the souls of all those who perished in this accident.

I am also shocked to hear all kind of 'reasons' for this crash by all kinds of people. We should all wait till some reasonable explaination and conclusions are developed. Airbus also plans to join to investigation. Retd Air Commodor offered some good ponts though in some areas he jumped to the conclusions too quickly like so many other people on TV channels.

It, howver, seems very confusing though why Pilot or Aircraft moved towards Margalla hills. That part of ISB/Pindi Metro is not part of any landing approach neither pliot was instructed to move in that direction. But again we don't know the reasons. Aircraft Captain was among the most respected in his community and he understood ISB area very well. What prompted the aircraft to move so far away? It will be among the key factors during the investigation.

Does the radar control at Islamabad have a real time recording facility? Similar to ATC voice recordings this facility would have recorded the whole approach and movements of all the air traffic at the time, enabling you to rewind and watch the radar screen movements in real time at a later time. I know radar facilities in Europe have this software.
