Very sad, may their souls rest in peace.

Everyone want answers, especially the families of the departed. May Allah provide them with patience to deal with this tragedy.
With the recovery of the black box, it ill be clear why the crash occurred. Islamabad is at an altitude of about 600 m and the Margalla Range is about 680 - 1600 m.

What a tragedy and what a sad loss.

I travelled MAN-ISB on 23/04 and the same captain pervez iqbal chaudhry flew us to Trabzon. I remember seeing him on the airport, checking in his suitcases at the dedicated counter for larger bags. Me and my wife saw him and mashallah he stood out because of his beard.

We then saw him in the cockpit and also at Trabzon when he was leaving the aircraft after change of crew.

We also travelled back to MAN from ISB on 25/06 on the very same aircraft that was involved in the crash AP-BJB. Here is the photo I took of this aircraft at Trabzon

In all the times I have landed at ISB, I cannot recall an aircraft flying as far as the Margalla, taking a turn and landing. Is that even a legitimate approach for ISB?

Mashallah Pervez Iqbal Chaudry was a role model. May Allah SWT grant him Jannat.

I seem to remember some 12-14 years back he piloted a PIA flight when I was very young... My father took me for a quick visit to the cockpit...

I wish there to be many more role models like this for the younger generation... Inshallah.

Can we rule out sabotage or terrorism? I think not! It seems too weird to believe a skipper so experiienced, who has flown the area all his life would fly all the way to the hills, weather or no weather!

Had the plane not collided with the hills, I wouldn't have made such remarks. PIA A300 at Katmandu was another matter altogether; there the hills were in final approach and it was a simple matter of not being able to maintain altitude, for whatever reason.

I bet the flight recorder will never be found! There is definitely something spooky going on out there.

@salampaks

9/10 times the approach to chaklala is via Rawalpindi side of airport with a left turn to align with runway.

The best guess I can make is that captain aborted 30 landing and veered right to eventually make a left turn to line with 12. But it's difficult to say because Pindi side of airport is most common approach.

I guess we will find out soon about a actual causes and speculation is merely wafting in mid air. Maybe it was a case of vertigo or something similar?

I Agree with you booming bomber,He would have flown to Islamabad around 20000 times before today, and he wud definetly had idea how high are the Margalla hills .And I also eard that they were making a correct approach and were asked to GO-AROUND,for some reason and were compelled to follow some unusual routes.I will never ever accept that that Experienced pilot would make such a silly mistake and risk the lives of so many people.Look at his Photo,He looks so much Graceful mashALLAH...

SOMETHING MUST WENT WRONG.AND BLACK BOX WILL NEVER BE FOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is what always happen in PAKISTAN..

Indeed a sad day for Pakistan, all aviation enthusiasts, and most important the family members effected by this tragedy. My heartfelt condolences to all of them.

While I am happy to see many good Samaritans jumping in to help (hopefully they are helping and not just watching), it would be good for the response team to properly comb through. Despite that, it is sickening and saddening to hear of the lack of how Pakistani media works because on two occasions there were incidents of mis-reporting regarding survivors and black box being found? I mean there isnt any gray area here, either you find survivors or you dont, either you find a black box or you dont....

As for the arm-chair, laptop critic so called "aviation expert" bureaucrats who claim of knowing what happened or even for them to speculate of what happened is shameful. Airplanes dont simple fall out of the sky due to one simple pilot error, it takes a lot of mistakes for it to happen, and knowing how experienced the flight deck crew was, it would be wise for the media to reserve their speculations because at this point any reason is possible!

What I hope for is, the gov't doesnt start to hide something in the interest of sanity for the country or even hide something based on a capitalistic standpoint and simplly blame it on pilot error (as that would be the easiest thing to do since the late Capt Iqbal and F/O are no longer with us).

All in all, emotions aside, a very sad day for aviation indeed and for Pakistan. Pakistan is known for producing the best pilots in the world and I still maintain alongside with my fellow countrymen that this will hopefully go down as a learning lesson that Allah has the will power to give and take life for everyone whether we are pilots with 10,000 multi-engine hours or even a training cadet with a few hundred hours....

May Allah bless the souls aboard Air Blue 202. Ameen.

One of my good friends relative and his family was onboard this flight, he just got informed 1 hr ago and now they are divested with there loss of relatives.....May AST grant them Jannah and give sabar and strength to coup up with this loss.

Anymore updates from CAA since last one posted by Abbas.....

Too early to say what happened but something did happened out of ordinary either in the cockpit or with aircraft itself to lose it's bearing and altitude in last few mins of the flight!.

Those girls on the bottom left and right hand corner, I recognize them. They were on a few ED flights I took in the past. Those poor people. I so hope they did not suffer.

I was looking at some of my old pics from my trips to Isb and one of them was on an ED flight which was also a 7am flight and we landed in Isb in the rain and we also approached the airport from the North and did 2 go-arounds but at no time did we come close to the Margalla Hills. As a matter of fact I took a photo of the Isb Airport apron area which showed AP-BID and a BA 777 parked on the ramp. I posted those pics here on the forum as well. Abbas might remember which thread it was. I cannot recall the exact date but AP-BID had just recently been delivered to PIA and Shaheen had leased an A310 from Saga airlines of Turkey which I also took a pic of. Abbas can you find that thread?
