How come Egypt Air are retiring 3 of their 5 777-200ER's
It sounds unreal for any Airline to be already beginning to retire their777-200ER's. It sounds unreal. The ER is only about 12-13 years in service! How old must be Egypt Air's 777? Amazingly, it seems they are replacing 777's with A330-300's.

This is strange why Egypt Air is retiring there 200ERs as it sorta make sense why Varig retired there originally made non-ER B772s!. I'm sure there is a good reason behind this...

Apparently they are now a member of the 'Star Alliance' and are going with a policy of new and upgraded fleet i guess. But retire 777-200ER's which are only around 12-13 years old is un imaginable.
Airlines like BA have recently stored 7 of their B747-400's out of their fleet of 57. And are trying to switch 744 flights to the 777-200ER's. Obviously, pax yields are dwindling in numbers and makes sense to save fuel, hence the switch. Infact they have ordered more 777-300ERs for their fleet.
I was hoping to fly to DXB next month from LHR with BA, on one its flights with the 744, but i have checked and now all their flights to DXB are with a 777 and the 767. Would have been my first ever flight on a 744. I will now switch to EK for a ride on the A380 from LHR to DXB!
