After a mere 11 years in service, she was donated to the Indonesian Air Force in 1969.

If anyone could provide the routes/cities PIA's constellations flew on, I would be truly grateful.

Thanks for viewing.

Just beautiful, im seriously impressed with your work on making these Connie images!, very scale and detailed job you did here.

Sorry i couldn't find the back up CD with PIA S Connie artwork in it, i am still looking for you, it has 5-6 different art work done on all liveries PIA's S Connie's wore.....

Out of 5-6 variants of liveries, what livery this model will wear?

Your Connie model is "H", one of the last 2 PIA bought as other 3 were "C" models...

Connieman, it will be AP-AJY, a series -H Lockheed L1049.

For FS2004, the -C model has not been made, so I decided to go with this model and particular airplane.

I look forward to receiving the art work from you. It will greatly help me in this project.

heres an image of AP-AJY/AJZ and the livery I have chosen;

Ahmed, according to route network shown in a 1958 PIA booklet, apparently Super Constellations were used on following domestic flights.

Karachi-Dacca-Karachi
Karachi-Lahore-Karachi
Lahore-Dacca-Lahore

* At that time current Walton Aerodrome in Lahore was used by PIA aircraft. The new airport of Lahore at its present location was built in early 1960s to allow jet flight operations.

PIA, at least on one occasion, also operated Super Constellation flight from Rawalpindi to transport essential items to snow-blocked Gilgit. The aircraft was flown by PIA's ace pilot Capt. Abdullah Baig. Capt. Abdullah Baig showed his skills flying the Super Constellation very close to mountains during Gilgit Airport landing and take-off procedure. Seats of Super Constellaton were removed to transport goods to Gilgit and at Gilgit Airport Capt. Abdullah Baig also invited local kids to see the aircraft from inside.

International destinations for PIA Super Constellations included Baghdad, Beirut, Rome, Geneva and London but I don't have exact route details.

Wish you good luck with your project.

Thanks for your detailed reply Abbas bhai. I believe the London sector was flown via Cairo, I recall seeing it on HOP website somewhere, perhaps in the memorabilia section.

We are now working on it, and InshAllah plan to sort out all the details very soon, and start work on other PIA classics as well.

Yes, that's right. In fact, PIA started it's first international service from Karachi to London via Cairo with Super Constellation in 1955.

But later at some stage Cairo service was suspended and then re-launched in 1965 with Boeing 720B. Unfortunately, PIA Boeing 720B (AP-AMH) operating inaugural flight for re-launching Cairo service crashed just few moments before landing at Cairo Airport in May 1965.

Here's 1955 PIA advertisement promoting airline's Super Constellation service from Karachi to London via Cairo.

Abbas. Thanks for adding the additional information below..........

Now this is something I would have liked to have been around to see.

Capt. Abdullah Baig must have had absolute nerves of Steel to perform those type of movements at Gilgit! Cool!
