PIA Boeing 720-047B in new livery (photo)

Post by cpt_747 »

The orbital speed of the Earth around the Sun averages about 30 km/s or 18 mps (108,000 km/h or 67000 mph).
Which means we're travelling 97 times the speed of sound. And yet we can't feel the motion,

What a waste of time and money. Painting an obsolete a/c in the airlines latest livery. And whats with the security issue? Its not like the a/c is parked at an airport or that someone will start it up and fly off in it. Why all this paranoia and obsession with security?

In my personal experience, I've found security people at PIA Planetarium in Lahore friendly and cooperative. They do not stop anyone from taking photos of the aircraft. However, proper permission from planetarium's management is required to visit or photograph aircraft's cockpit. Cockpit door of the aircraft remains locked during general public visit hours.

I agree with Abbas, i went to the LHE planetarium and the people didnt mind us taking pictures of the aircraft. Though I hope they kept the livery in the 60 or 70s scheme..

I am the photographer who took this picture in Lahore. Just to let you know, at first I was denied permission by the 'security guard' to take pictures of the aircraft. Never understood his reasons why.

I was told by him I needed permission from the manager. My collegue explained to him all we wanted to do was take photos of a disused aircraft and that we had come along way to do so.

He reluctantly gave us 5 minutes to take our pictures.

Maybe I was just unlucky to get an over zelous guard.

Precisley, the main reason for it being there is to show the public. I think it was just the guard being a jobsworth for the day when I went. Its not like i was going to 'steal' it!
