Eva Air indeed was the launch customer for the Boeing 777-200LR variant, but due to lack of funds and orders the aircraft was shelved and Eva Air was likely to remove the order

Wrong.

After the Sept 11 attacks, Boeing froze the 777-200LR programme for 18 months. Development was totally halted, however, the sales team were still marketing the airplance.

EVA Air is still a 777-200LR customer, and contrary to lies in the media, has no desire to cancel the 777-200LR order. Its waited over 5 years for the aircraft- if cancellation was due, it would have occurred when Boeing temporarily halted the 777-200LR development- not 4 months before entry into service
