flydubai Seeking Permission to Start Skardu Flights

News circulating on social media regarding request by Fly dubai to start operations to Skardu.

Could it possibly be due to the recent codeshare agreement with PIA? Maybe PIA will carry their passengers from Islamabad to Skardu?

flydubai has submitted an application with Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to operate flights between Dubai and Skardu.

From December 2, Skardu Airport became available for international flights under Visual Flight Rules (VFR).

Tourists, mountain climbers/trekkers and also people hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan settled in different parts of the world expected to travel on Emirates flights to/from Dubai and catch connecting flydubai flights between Dubai and Skardu.

flydubai has become the first International Airline to submit request for approval of flight operations to/from Skardu Airport.

The airline intends to start flight operations to Skardu subject to necessary approval of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA).

Fly Dubai do not go to Islamabad and they won't ask CAA permission for Skardu flights. They only need to do codeshare with PIA for this.

I dont think it will matter if it goes to Islamabad or not, I mean Emirates flies to Islamabad anyway. What we need to do is have more airlines flying to more destinations in pak and this would bring in more revenue for the airport and those who would like to visit that region.
