Reportedly, these aircraft are being inducted as a replacement of P3C Orions which are to be retired.

An airline whose flight crew can intentionally crash a fully serviceable, modern airliner in perfect weather conditions should at best be ashamed.

Every pilot in PIA who could leave has left and those that are left are trying hard to - although incompetence or luck are preventing them from jumping to foreign carriers.
SM, while you do make very valid points in your posts and there is absolutely no denying that PIA's personnel standards have slipped, lets not pretend this exact scheme wasn't hatched and executed by a group looking for a second chance at life. Like A320 said, their spectacular performance in training where all but one failed and then the last one was dismissed due to serious CRM/HF issues are enough to get the point across. Sadly, the intervention of "superior beings" repeatedly behind promotions/command upgrades in PIA is relevant to the late capt and both sisters with questionable performance observations.

A310, while we dont necessarily see the same on many things, I have to partially side with you on this one.

Coming back to topic, I am sure this hefty fleet of 11 is surely required including a decked a VIP transport larger than the one assigned to the prime minister/president/COAS. I am also sure that it is imperative to national security to have the VIP transport with a bed and pressure padded seats delivered before any surveillance/defense activities aircraft. For lumber 1 training ofcourse.

Turboprop, hypothetically, do you think a few years later someone will magically discover these ERJs arent fit to serve the intended purpose, they will be auctioned off for cents on the dollar and next day Bahria Town airlines will be born?

Like on other aircraft operated by Pakistan Navy, "Hasbunallahu Wa Ni’mal Wakeel" meaning "Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)" also painted on Lineage nose section.

Pakistan has hired Italian defense company Leonardo to convert three Embraer Lineage 1000 regional jetliners into long-range maritime patrol aircraft for Pakistan Navy.

The contract includes design, modification, installation and integration of an anti-submarine warfare and maritime patrol package. The three planes will then be introduced into service as "Sea Sultan" patrol aircraft.

Follow-on contracts are expected to bring the total number of Sea Sultans to 10 as replacement of Pakistan Navy P-3C Orion fleet.

Under an additional contract, South Africa’s Paramount Group will handle the pre-conversion maintenance, repair and overhaul of these Embraer aircraft.
