PIA Cabin Crew Member With High Alcohol Level in Blood Off-loaded

According to news sources, a flight purser of January 7 PIA Karachi to Lahore flight PK-316 was off loaded due to high level of alcohol in his blood. The breath analyzer test for alcohol was 0.86.

The airline has started disciplinary action against the crew member.

On January 7, PIA Boeing 777-200ER registration AP-BMG as flight PK-316 departed from Karachi at 1:46 PM as flight PK-316 to Lahore. The flight was scheduled to depart at 1:30 PM.

PIA will take strong action against aircraft crew who fail alcohol test. Violators will be suspended and/or dismissed from the airline.

According to news report on following link, the medical team during surprise visit to the aircraft performed breathalyzer test and off-loaded the cabin crew member who failed the test.

KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has warned its pilots and cabin crew of strict action if they are found intoxicated during duty time.

`Even smoking [while on duty] is not allowed, said PIA`s spokesperson Mashhood Tajwar on Friday. Those found violating the rules could f ace suspension or termination of services, he added.

The warning came against the backdrop of an incident in which a steward was found to have consumed alcohol before a Lahore-bound flight a couple of days ago.
