Re: Hybrid Aviation Cessna Crashes in Lahore
Thank you Induced Drag, but what is the practical Application, have tried in Air? What i'm actually trying to say is, this is the stall type in which if you are Doing Climbing Turn to the Left, the wing will drop to the Right and you will go in Right Spiral Dive/Spin, and vice versa, i see this possibility here...

Four days old news report:
Following image shows Runway 14 and Runway 32 of Walton Aerodrome, Model Town, Model Town Park and Block H of Model Town where AP-BCS crashed into a house.

Seems AP-BCS was going to land on Runway 32 of Walton Aerodrome. The other side/direction of this runway is numbered as Runway 14.Report fails to find cause behind plane crash
March 01, 2012
LAHORE: The Civil Aviation Authority's initial report of the training aircraft's crash in Model Town Lahore has failed to unearth the cause of the crash.
According to the initial report, the trainee pilot, late Waqar Asif, and the trainer late Anita Qureshi did not communicate any emergency to the control tower.
The report also mentions that the Cessna 150 (AP-BCS) was thoroughly checked and declared airworthy before the flight, ruling out the possibility of an inherent technical flaw. The last communication of the aircraft was 30 seconds before the crash in which the pilot told the control tower that he was flying over Model Town Park and was headed back for landing.

Looks like you flipped the runways around Abbas. Runway 32 should be top and 14 on the bottom in that picture you posted so in that case they were heading for runway 32 in fact it looks as if they were on a extended right base for 32.

Not familiar at all actually I have never gotten the chance to fly there but you don't need to be familiar with the airport to know what the runways will look like in this case it was my mistake because It looked similar to one of the airports I operate in and that is called Stinson which has the same runways but I kinda forgot that we approach from the North for it thats why the 14 seemed to be in the opposite direction. Hate to be proven wrong but you got me.
Check Stinson Municipal Airport in Texas.

Re: Hybrid Aviation Cessna Crashes in Lahore
I think Walton airport's days are numbered. In the past 10 - 15 years the area has had masses of urban development and what was once an ideal location for a flying club may not be the case now.
who knows if there was soft land around the runway this accident may not have been fatal.
I know its been discussed before of this forum, but I do think this incident will seal the fate for the site now.

I think you mean open land. No 'soft' land even water cannot cushion the impact of a falling plane. Moreover IMO in case of an engine failure in a circuit, once past the mid of downwind, you should be able to make it to the rwy.nopy99 wrote:.....who knows if there was soft land around the runway this accident may not have been fatal.

Why dont we shut down the main airport too then? i dont see any 'soft ground' (whatever that is) around there. but i do see a housing scheme rite next to the runway.
Accidents happen all over the world. Get over it. It does not mean you, like shahbaz sharif (who has been after the land for ages now) talk about shutting down the aerodrome.

Nothing will happen to walton, infact i believe that CAA will make walton aerodrome as the hub for General Aviation and base their offices concerning General aviation there..

I hope Walton Aerodrome continues to survive. The air field is important part of aviation history and heritage of Lahore.
