Well i have been holding off trying not to say anything on this incident specially when i see many members on here started to say stuff that is hurtful to the families, relatives and friends of this tragedy.

For Facebook members on here, here is something totally different that came from CEO of Airblue himself: (Pls read it urself and try to post that article here if possible.)

You can see he clearly have said "No technical problem was with BJB at the time of crash, No terrorist activity found and was ruled out, FO has 300 hrs of flight time on BJB " so what else is left to think could have happened!. I don't want to say it but, it's obvious that "Pilot Error" is one of the causes if not a cause itself in this crash!....

KARACHI (August 04 2010): The human factor also involves the management of the airline and the CAA," stated a former air crash investigator. He said that besides the weather and runway's surrounding conditions (no-fly zones, etc) one should also take into consideration the working environment, which gives mental stress, or relaxation, which is the most critical aspect.

World-wide, safety procedures are adopted to avoid incidents like the recent one, as afterwards one could only find out what went wrong, whereas in the aviation industry it is important to give due consideration to the facts which could go wrong, and human fatigue is a hidden and most important factor. This human fatigue could be at both the pilot's or the Air Traffic Controller's end, he said.

The former crash investigator said that after the tragic incident of AirBlue Airbus one should have seen some serious kind of investigation going on in the country, specially including the factors like visibility and weather factor at the time of the crash, air traffic controller's mental presence, the signal jamming equipment on the ground--since the aircraft had reportedly come too close to the ground--and the mental and fatigue status of Captain Pervez Iqbal. Investigation result will not be largely accepted unless it involves all stakeholders, including relatives of the victims, to come to satisfaction level, experts said.

i was expecting some info relating to the crash rather than this kinda topics of airforce and civil pilots...

If the path of an aircraft is visualized on 2 axis... altitude and direction ....how come the aircraft ended up at that part of the hill ..

The aircraft was low ... and was in landing config... and quite way off from track..

what possible conditions cud make the a.c come to that situation.. Esp if the aircraft is high tech

Even if the pilots were unaware .. what about the EGPWS .... was it deactivated as the aircraft wasnt in full landing config and causing a nuisance in the cockpit..

Secondly the GPS system of the aircraft ...would hav been able to provide the crew situational awareness... reports of gps signals being lost after takeoff from oprn are common ... Could it be one of the reasons ...

Even if so what about the other nav aids ...

whats about the the MSA ... Why wasnt it followed ...

Just trying to steer the topic in the right direction

There are many questions to be answered. The question is whether we will get any from the authorities. If past experience is any guide there will be silence with no published report.

Only the media can ensure that a report IS published. They need to keep the pressure on but the media too will drift off and look for other stories.

I was thinking that if the captain said he had the field in sight and the Margalla hills in sight was he not telling the truth? Perhaps not. He probably just wanted to get ATC off his back and not tell him how to fly.

Because if he had Margalla in sight he would not have hit it.

Was he flying and doing the radio work as well? It couldn't be the F/O speaking since he is on his right and in no position to say what could be seen on the left as they flew downwind. Maybe the captain was instructing the F/O to say what he wanted him to say. Otherwise handling the radio while flying is increasing his workload and causing a distraction.

We need to hear the CVR.

As per my inquiry the Captain is warned that he is in the danger zone and he is heading towards the no fly zone but he replied that 'I Know'.
It is not confirmed that is there really Capt. Pervaiz at Captain's seat or any other person.
The above inquiry is told by my Uncle who went to Islamabad to recieve the dead Body of my Father

A week on and for those like Divine who have lost their loved ones their grief, pain and trying to come to terms and I guess accept what has happened must be extremely hard. May Allah give you sabar. Ameen

The way in which the events unfolded on the 28th of July, the very poorly coordinated response by the relevant authorities and the manner in which the news was reported was a total disgrace. I am a qualified journalist in the UK, have worked for the BBC and was disgusted to see the disgraceful reporting of this story by many of the Pakistani news channels.

As a journalist it is all about getting news on the air asap. However events like this need a certain level of cautious/sesnsitive reporting. Not one but 152 people (humans - not even animals) have died in a horrific manner. Any sensible journalist would immediately ensure that the reporting is done so in a sensitive manner. But in Pakistan - the reporters/anchors went in the other direction.

The facts were an AirBlue aircraft from KHI-ISB flight ED202 crashed into the Margalla Hills whilst attempting to land in bad weather. There were no other facts initially and the cause of the crash is still unknown. But for the Pakistani media, they wanted to keep this as rolling news so what do they do? They start reporting untrue/unconfirmed and very insensitive material about the crew, airline, circumstances around the accident. I mean shoving a microphone infront of a family member who has just lost their loved one and aksing them how they feel. I mean they are balling their eyes out, grieving, shocked and still expecting to see their loved ones come out into the arrivals area of the airport – how do you think they feel? And the second question to ask about their personality. Utter disgrace.

And to top it all off – they get guests and reporters in the studios, 2 hrs into the tragedy and everyone is discussing at length, pathetic conspiracy theories. Why or why or why? How insensitive to not only those who have died but their family and friends.

I hope a thorough investigation is carried out by the relevant authorities. If not for anyone but those who have lost their loved ones.

Sir,

I share you sense of angst. I hear the reporting was offensive and insensitive. I don't know what to say but that the media freedom in Pakistan is new and therefore 'raw' and they don't know the boundaries of sensitivity and good-taste.

Having said that, the media in a country like the US would have done far worse. When the wife of a dead pilot would have woken up the next day she would have seen her front porch and lawn full of media personell and their equipment who had camped there all night. Had she dared to step out to collect the newspaper, she would have microphones shoved in her face and asked intrusive and stupid questions about her dead pilot-husband.

It happened recently in a case when Northwest pilots over-flew their destination because they were consulting their lap-tops in the cockpit discussing crew scheduling issues! They went on for 100 miles beyond their destination until ATC finally managed to contact them and tell them to turn back! In the meantime F-16s were scrambled because ATC thought there was a hijack in progress. ATC made them do several turns to assure that the aircraft was under their control. That is standard procedure after 9/11. If they had not responded to the command of turns, they are to be shot down.

I think too many of us are tempting to find a real cause and jumping to conclusions. I am confident other than Captain Choudhary, no one else was at the Captain's seat.

While human is to err, machine is to malfunction. I am sure Margalla Hills was not the choice of landing spot both for BJB Captain and its FO. Its possible that a good investigation may answer some of these questions e.g., why BJB kept descending towards Margalla hills, was it the equipment failure first or human error or a combination of both or other factors. Were they coordinated correctly from ATC? There are many if, then else and may be's. Some of them will be answered, if not all. But let's not blame any one at this time.

May I also extend to member Divine my heart-felt condolences on his terrible loss.

Why should there be any doubt/suspicion about who was sitting in the left-seat?

Since it was a left-hand circuit, I would imagine the captain was doing the flying because he must make the judgment when to turn to base-leg. If he was looking out and to the left, it was the duty of the F/O to keep his eyes firmly on the PFD and ND in front of him and advise the captain of any deviations from the normal. May be he had never done a circle-to-land in real life. But the procedure should have been comprehensively briefed at TOD or on the approach by the captain.

May be the F/O did speak up. We need the CVR.

Sorry mate a bit lost here what's a left or a right hand circuit gotta do with who's on the controls, could be either pilot. Some airfields may have restrictions to do a visual maneuver in a particular direction. PFD's got nothing to do with a visual eyeballing its the ND that tells you your position relative to the landing threshold provided the runway has been selected in the FMC and that's a back up besides circling is a visual maneuver suppose to be looking OUT not IN.

PFD will only give you att/alt/speed/hdg info.

The New York Times gave an account of communications between the aircraft and the ground that indicated otherwise. The newspaper claimed that the pilots were warned that they were flying away from the runway, to which the pilot responded “I can see the runway”.[13] The controller then told the flight crew to “immediately turn left, Margalla [Hills] are ahead”, before the pilot again replied “we can see it”.
