Lets hope so!! I think getting ex-PIA staff away from PIA would be a good thing. We need experts to start their own bus companies and tackle the on-going problems of the Paksitani market. We need competition! Its the only way we are going to drive down prices. Its cheaper to fly further from Pakistan than actually fly into Pakistan!Moin wrote:Well I just spoke to someone regarding Nasir Ali and they don't think he will accept the job due to his family commitments. They've interviewed alot of retired PIA people and have taken on board someone named Kaleem (I forgot the surname) who was also in the finance dept of PIA at one time. From the looks of it they seem serious about getting off the ground.

Re: Air Indus
From what I was told one of Nasir Ali's conditions of acceptance to Indus was that he be able to spend most of his time in the US where he actually lives as he cannot remain in Pakistan full time. That was the main reason he left ED. His family was/is in the US and he wanted to give them priority.

Re: Air Indus
Capt Felix is of quite an age now and I don’t think he will take up this responsibility. As for Nasir Ali, he has been approached but these two gentleman have not been finalized for the said positions.
I wish the best to Indus Air and hope to see them flying soon.

Re: Air Indus
Well, Capt.Felix has joined as an Adviser to COO of the airline and
is carrying out meetings with 2 senior captains of airblue for the
post of DFO and Chief Pilot for there upcoming A-320's
50% of his aeroasia team, now airblue team is also being contacted
for Air Indus key posts. So as per sources, a team of Pilots of airblue
are quite interested in shifting to Air Indus if things turnout the way they
want to.
Nice to see that things in General Aviation has finally started to move.

Any information regarding Air Indus will be highly appreciated.I want to know
When will this Airline start operation ?
Who is the owner?
How many aircrafts do they need?
What is the status of this airline with CAA?
If they are buying 4 A320's how many pilots will they need?Usually how many pilots are required per aircraft?
Who will recruit pilots?

July 21, 2006.
I should be entitled to some kind of a job in this new airline. Just kidding.

Four years ago I suggested a name for an airline that should take over the commuter operations of PIA.The government of Pakistan needs to creat a new commuter airline to take over the "social" or commuter routes of PIA.
Basically the former F.27 flights.
An airline with a fleet of around 10 ATR42-500s serving routes which PIA considers social or loss making.
Once the losses of these routes is off the balance sheet of PIA, it should make more attractive for foreign airlines to buy PIA.
The government can run that airline on no loss no profit basis and "serve" the public of Pakistan as it is so good in doing.
I even have the perfect name for it:
INDUS AIRLINES
Representing the river Indus, the life line of Pakistan.
Anyways just a thought that might help PIA get privatized as the question of social routes have always kept potential PIA buyers away from Pakistan.
I should be entitled to some kind of a job in this new airline. Just kidding.

Re: Air Indus
I dont understand why people speaks on assumptions, the current situation of Indus Air its backed by some american & Saudis and the concept and all the fundings are done through by Mr Manzar Jamal who is currently Director Air transport CAA Pak he is on the board of directors. Mr Nasir Ali will not be joining any organisation in Pakistan he is completely based in USA. Mr Kaleem of PIA finance will joining Air Indus or joined not confirmed and he will setup the complete infrastructure, they have planned to launch the AIRLINE somewhere in October /November after that they will start the hiring. Regarding the AOC its under process because of no A/c listed once the Aircraft will be register than AOC will be issued.
