Thanks guys, I love my job here. Unfortunately I know alot of people that don't apreciate what they have here but I do. And its not only because of the pay for me. I thank Allah everyday for being able to go to work here.
My original intentions here were to join PIA here. But then I saw the way that they run things here (out sourced to swissport for PAX service and to C.A.S.(Cargo airport services) for Cargo) I decided I was lucky enough to get into Lufthansa Cargo when I did. And if LH Cargo ever does decide to outsource, thanks to them I now have strong connections with KU, AT, and SV. SV heard about rumors which thank God were not true but they said to go to them in the event if such things should ever happen. They will take me in.

I have to agree 150% with Saleem here, people who work outside of airport have NO CLUE how great it is to have an opportunity to work at the airports, it's very very different environment altogether and one who works there and love airplanes, it's a heaven for him on earth!. I was very very fortunate to work airside at CYYZ for 8 years and now honestly i miss every minute of it not being there and kick myself for it at times, but one who does have this chance in life must avail it to the fullest.Lufthansa Cargo wrote:Thanks guys, I love my job here. Thanks Connieman, who did you work for at YYZ?
BTW the people that I am talking about that don't apreciate what they have are some here at JFK working for an airliner, not a handling company, and don't know what they have here. Its like your in another world all together.

I started off with as refueler, then did my AM&E about 2 years into refueling, worked for Wright International, then JetsGo airlines until they went up. Came back full time with refueling company until i developed respiratory infection to kero fumes and skydrol....I had to leave then. Yes you are soo right about about airport being another world altogether, it has it's own ways of running the place...Lufthansa Cargo wrote:Thanks Connieman, who did you work for at YYZ?

So sorry to hear about the infection. For quite sometime I have been thinking about refueling as a second job here at JFK but this health risk is the only thing holding me back. I have been told that aviation fuel could practicallay cut your life in half. However the starting pay is not so bad.

Well there comes a point in life where either you live normally or just live your dream and hope it last very long time but it won't and your health will suffer eventually. That was the time for me to make decision and as much as i love and have passion for aircrafts, my health comes first. As far as pay is concerned, i was making real good money then, but how far money will take you over your health...you know what i mean. Refueling is very good job and it takes you right up to aircrafts and into aircrafts of all types no doubt about it, there are times when pilots have to listen to you also but again live your dream and get health problems or just live longer to enjoy them form distance choice is yours...Lufthansa Cargo wrote:So sorry to hear about the infection. Ofcourse life is more important. If I was in the same position I would make the same decision also. So how are things now? I hope your health is improving.
