PIA’s Flight Leaves For Abu Dhabi From Sialkot
SIALKOT, Oct 26 (APP): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)’s second international flight PK-253 with 60 passengers on-board left for Abu Dhabi here on Sunday. With the introduction of flights for Abu Dhabi and Muscat, PIA is now operating three weekly international flights on Sialkot-Kuwait, Sialkot-Abu Dhabi and Sialkot-Mascat routes.
Addressing the flight launching ceremony at Sialkot International Airport (SIA), General Manager Sales Passengers Domestic Nauman A.Shah said that PIA was focusing on initiating more flights on various routes like Europe and Middle East countries to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis and business community of Sialkot.
The national flag carrier has taken the lead in intitating its international flights from Sialkot International Airport, he said adding that PIA was making all out efforts to make the Sialkot International Airport a big success.
Nauman A. Shah further said that it heartening to note that PIA was already operationing Sialkot-Kuwait and Sialkot-Karachi flights from SIA. He lauded the efforts of private sector of Sialkot for establishing international airport on self-help basis and hoped that in near future this airport would be the busiest airport of the country.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman SIAL Choudary Ghulam Mustafa thanked the PIA for initiating more flights from Sialkot and underscored the need of launching cargo service from Sialkot airport to facilitatethe exporters of the area.

SIALKOT (October 27 2008): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has started second international flight from Sialkot, as a PIA plane, flight PK 253, with large number of passengers took off from Sialkot International Airport to Abu Dahabi here on Sunday.
With the introduction of Abu Dhabi and Muscat bound flights, PIA is now operating three weekly international flights on Sialkot-Kuwait, Sialkot-Abu Dahabi and Sialkot Mascat routes from the Sialkot.
Addressing the flight launching ceremony held at Sialkot International Airport, General Manager PIA Passenger Sales Domestic Nauman A. Shah said that PIA was focusing on initiating more flights on various routes to European and Middle East countries to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis and business community of Sialkot.
Apart from this, operating of cargo flight from Sialkot International Airport was also under consideration and hopefully after completion of Hajj season the PIA high ups would decide about it.

PIA Commences Third International Flight From Sialkot
SIALKOT, Oct 30 (APP): The national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) started its third weekly direct Sialkot-Muscat flight Wednesday night, when flight PK-229 with 118 passengers on board took off from Sialkot International Airport.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony central joint secretary PML-N MNA Khwaja Muhammad urged the PIA authorities to adopt an ‘Open Skies’ policy in the larger national interest and allow other airlines to operate their flights from Sialkot.
He said the national airline should also focus on initiating more domestic and international flights, as well as operating Hajj flights from Sialkot.
The parliametarian claimed that PIA suffered a huge loss of Rs 36 billion annually due to political interference and serving unprofitable airports in the country.
He said in the present state of the country’s economy, senior PIA officials should concentrate on purging the organisation of such mapractices and work to make it a profitable organization.
He urged the need to increase the number flights on the Sialkot-Abu Dhabi, Sialkot-Kuwait and Sialkot-Muscat routes to facilitate overseas Pakistanis and the business community of this export-oriented city, which will help open new economic horizons and help enhance the export-volume.
On this occasion he also lauded the time. money, effort and commitment of the local business community for undertaking this mega airport project completed by them totally on self-help basis, adding that the private sector has set a unique precedent.
Speaking on the occasion PIA district manager Syed Tariq Ismael said that the airline will initiate more flights on different routes after the completion of the Haj operation, while it is already operating three international flights from Sialkot.
In his welcome address, Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) chairman Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhry urged upon PIA to introduce more international flights to Europe, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia to facilitate our ex-pats residing there and the business community of Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala districts.
