Boeing 777 leased from MAS - Photos by SENIOR - II

Post by Abbas Ali »

PIA flight operated with Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-2H6/ER (registration 9M-MRE) photographed at Manchester Airport on December 2, 2006 by forum member SENIOR. PIA acquired this aircraft on wet lease from Malaysia Airlines in November 2006. (See related topic: PIA still in talks for wet-lease of one MAS Boeing 777)

Judging by these pics, the seats in PIA's business cabin seem to be better.

I would have thought there would have been some logo or insignia of PIA's on this a/c. This could cause a few people to get just a bit confused.

Clarify again what's the concept of a wet lease?

Wet Lease: Crew of the Lessor (Cockpit as well as cabin?)
Dry Lease: Crew of the Lessee

Is the above correct? If it is, it makes sense that the paint scheme does not change.

Here's some more info:

Wet Lease: A wet lease is any leasing arrangement whereby a company agrees to provide an aircraft and at least one pilot to another company.

Dry Lease: A lease in which just the aircraft is provided with no crew and maintenance guarantees.

Thats very nice to see MAS777 working for PIA. I was very curious to know which c/s it is wearing, but its in MAS colors :(

By the way, Can't an aircraft get even a single sticker of identity of the airline it is working for in the time period when it is Wet-Leased?

Wet leased MAS info

Post by SENIOR »

The crew compliment during the last four days ex MAN has seen a mixture of both cockpit crew -

MAS Capt and MAS First Officer
PK Capt and MAS First Officer
MAS Capt and PK First Officer

As for the cabin crew the Senior Purser or No.1 has always been PK with remaining 80% PK crew and only 02 MAS male stewards.

9M-MRE providing only a 02 class configuration C-35/Y-247

Great pictures. I think someone asked this in another thread, but what routes will this be used on?
