In the recent past, PIA ATR flights linked Moenjodaro with Sukkur and Karachi.

^ Yes, there also was plan to preserve a retired PIA Boeing 737-300 at a PIA Planetarium in Moenjodaro. The plan did not become reality.

PIA’s regional route network has gradually disappeared.

Management at PIA needs to be considerably more active in pressuring Pak CAA to minimise landing charges, passenger duty and even provide tax breaks for airlines operating socia-economic routes. These routes are important but cannot be sustained within the current CAA approach. It is not unusual for governments to offer these types of incentives to operators. Ideally PIA operates these routes but does so profitably rather than continuing to accumulate losses but operating on govt orders. PIA needs to advocate for itself.

I’ll informed politicians love giving the easy answer - the motorways mean we don’t need flights but I find it difficult to understand how a 8-12 hours driving replaces a 1 hour flight

On July 28, the parliamentary committee was informed that construction work cannot be started to upgrade/rehabilitate Moen Jo Daro Airport because construction work near Moen Jo Daro archaeological site is not allowed to prevent the site from getting damaged.

Moen Jo Daro archaeological site has been declared World Heritage Site by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and is protected by an international convention administered by UNESCO
