Big Changes in PIA as government bailout ends

Post by Amaad Lone »

IMF has asked the government to stop bailing out PIA.

Major changes in the next few months.

Maybe PIA shuts down, or loans transferred to government against the hotels, leaving PIA with a cleaner balance sheet and on its own.

Its about time.

About time.

Wonder if debt-equity swap would be possible. Pakistani banks maybe but the foreign creditors may just want their money so they can be done.

What EQUITY???? PIA is in the negative by 300 billion rupees.

Local banks have sovereign guarantees so they will get paid.

An old fleet of 777s, a leased fleet of A320s, and a few turboprops.

Government will take over majority liabilities and maybe give PIA to a private investor.

Airlines are bought for their network and profitability. PIA has none.

Sell it off for pennies and cost the tax payers billions, and let the share eating feasts commence. Every option is a loss for the tax payer.

One of the private airline should buy domestic and Middle East net work
Other Saudia and Europe when cleared can operate Canada

If that’s the case, then it’s the end of Pakistani civil aviation. No one in Pakistan to takeover and maintain an international standard in the airline industry. You’ll get many fly by night operators who will come and go.

Sorry state of affairs. No foreign airline or entity would invest, as its a big liability. Wish PIA the very best. Sadly management through time ran it down for their own benefit. Hope they’re proud of themselves.

The best option is to sell it off and stop the money leakage
Private owners will have strict rules like our office bosses so everyone will be answerable for every action and incompetence
it will be fine no need to worry just sell it off nothing will happen to aviation instead we'll see new planes being order like the 787 or A350
