PIA Starts Flights for Gassim

PIA is considering to start flights for the Saudi Province of Qassim and in this regard airline's CEO Air Marshal (Retired) Arshad Malik held talks with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki in Islamabad.

Buraidah is the capital of Qassim Province.

In the past, now defunct privately-owned Pakistani airline Shaheen Air had planned to operate flights between Multan and Qassim.

Currently, PIA is operating scheduled passenger flights between Pakistan and Saudi cities of:

Riyadh
Jeddah
Medina
Dammam

In recent times, PIA also showed interest in starting flights for the Saudi city of Ta'if.

PIA planning to operate flights for Qassim from Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.

The airline has prepared plan to operate flights for Qassim where large number of expatriate Pakistanis reside.

PIA plan to start three weekly flights between Qassim and Pakistan with Airbus A320 from November 15 subject to authorities' permission.

Qassim will be PIA's fifth destination in Saudi Arabia. PIA already operates flights for Saudi cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina and Dammam.

With Gassim as new destination, PIA will be operating 42 weekly flights to Saudi Arabia.

PIA already operates flights to Saudi cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina and Dammam.

PIA intends to operates flights for Gassim from Multan and Islamabad also.

PIA to also operate once-a-week flight between Islamabad and Gassim with Airbus A320 every Friday. Flights expected to start on November 20.

PIA inaugural flight from Multan will receive water cannon salute upon arrival at Gassim airport on November 19.

The aircraft departed from Multan at 9:11 PM. The flight was scheduled to depart at 9:00 PM.

The aircraft had departed from Al-Qassim/Gassim at 1:31 AM. The flight was scheduled to depart at 1:00 AM.
