Nice photo Himmat - looks like Delhi was enjoying Monsoon rain at that time.
Is Emirates planning to operate Airbus A380 on regular basis between India and Dubai ?
What aircraft types are operated by Indian carriers for flights between India and Dubai ?

Re: Emirates A380 at Delhi.
It was a special one-off flight to mark the inauguration of terminal at Delhi airport as well as the completion of 25 years of service between Dubai and India.

Re: Emirates A380 at Delhi.
Thanks for your kind comments... We are enjoying the monsoon rains these days. I almost missed the Airbus A380 on that day because of the sudden change in the wind. I drove like crazy from the 29 side of the rwy to the 11 side, only to miss the touch down by a second. Good thing was that the road was parallel to the rwy.Abbas Ali wrote:Nice photo Himmat - looks like Delhi was enjoying Monsoon rain at that time.

Emirates can offer regular A380 flights to India only after the revision of bilateral agreement which at the moment restricts the a/c size to B744.
Emirates operates 184 weekly flights to India to around 10 destinations.
It operates almost all the a/c in its fleet to India except the Airbus A380.

Re: Emirates A380 at Delhi.
Emirates will not be operating A-380 to any of the south asian countries according to their officials.
This specific flight actually performed a go-around because the captain of the airliner which which had landed prior to EK A-380 had made the comment that 'the run was wet and braking was sluggish.' The Captain of EK A-380 decided to go-around and give more time for the rain water to disperse from the runway.

Re: Emirates A380 at Delhi
^ Thank you Himmat for details. That's a huge number of flights with Emirates widebody aircraft operated between Dubai and major cities of India.
Is it also possible to know total number of flights operated by Indian carriers to/from Dubai and types of aircraft operated by them ?
Many of those Emirates flights must be transporting significantly large number of passengers between India and other cities of the world via airline's hub airport in Dubai.
Surely there must be passenger load justifying this number of Emirates flights and passengers must be happy about the availability of this number of flights offering competitive fares. Passengers gain benefits from healthy competition between airlines.
But are leading international carriers of India i.e. Air India and Jet Airways okay with this number of flights operated by Emirates or do they express some sort of concern against this number of flights operated by Emirates ?

Re: Emirates A380 at Delhi
Most passangers on EK flights are bound for places other than DXB. We some times joke that EK is an international airline of India. On the other hand, most passengers on Indian carriers to DXB and other places in Gulf are O&D types. EK makes a killing on the routes where there are no direct flights between India and the destination. Some people even fly EK to SYD,MEL and AKL.Surely there must be passenger load justifying this number of Emirates flights and passengers must be happy about the availability of this number of flights offering competitive fares. Passengers gain benefits from healthy competition between airlines.
But are leading international carriers of India i.e. Air India and Jet Airways okay with this number of flights operated by Emirates or do they express some sort of concern against this number of flights operated by Emirates ?
Airlines in India are not okay with the mindless expansion of Gulf airlines to India. EK is just the tip of the iceberg. ET and QR are also expanding rapidly. Airlines have a problem with the Indian Government's policy of permitting only the airlines with operations of 5 years and a fleet of 20 aircrafts to fly abroad. On the other hand startups like FlybyDubai and NAS Air are allowed easy access to the Indian market.
