Why didnt they get the 744 originally when the new AF1 had been comissioned, instead of a re engined 742?
Shame on PIA chairman, managing director, board of directors, staff, designers and all others related to the new livery, who have contributed to further ruination of this once prestigious airlines image.

Probably because they didn't need 400s. VIP planes don't carry very many people atleast not in the average numbers as a normal airliner flight, so there was no need for the 400s it would be just spending extra taxpayer money for nothing.

But that aside, what do you think of THIS plane in the picture as AF1 not the current 200s. Forget those we're not dicussing those here.

If they didnt need the 744 back then why do they need a 748 now, why not have Boeing build some 744s specifically for them, like they did with the 742.

I dont think there's anything definate about what the new AF1 is going to be but the reason to opt for the 747-8NGs is probably because it's more enviorenment friendly.
The president of all peoples is expected to minimize damage to the enviornment.

And it will save alot of fuel.

747-400 cost more i believe and plus they didn't need something all that big. 747-8NGs will be big too but they'll save alot of fuel so on the long run they'll save taxpayers more money than spent and their long range will be useful for the president.

You gotta think long term and take all aspects into consideration
