PIA's new reservation and ticketing office in London inaugurated

LONDON, June 27 (APP):
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Chairman Zafar Ahmad Khan on Wednesday expressed hope that the national carrier would be able to overcome challenges facing it and regain its past reputation of strong, progressive and reliable airlines.

The Chairman was speaking this morning on the occasion of the inauguration of PIA new reservation and ticketing office at Sackville Street, Central London, to which it has shifted after 25 years at the Piccadilly.

He said PIA was now working on cost-effective measures to reduce its spending and became more profitable organisation. He spoke on the introduction of new technologies such as e-ticketing, on-line booking and other measures to reduce unnecessary expenditure.

Khan said airlines all over the world were very mindful of their expenses and were always thinking of curtailing their expenditures and save undue expenses.

He opined that time would not be far when the sales offices would become part of history due to the introduction of the modern technology.

The Chairman felicitated the ticketing office staff under Ms. Shaheen Nawab for decorating the new premises in a cost effective manner.

Pakistan High Commissioner to UK Dr. Maleeha Lodhi who along with Zafar Ahmad Khan cut the ribbon to inaugurate the new office said PIA was serving one million strong British-Pakistani community in an excellent way.

She said the inauguration of the new ticketing office has coincided with the 60 years of the Pakistan independence. She expressed hope that the challenges being faced by PIA would be surmounted with determination and the airlines will turn itself around and became a successful organisation once again.

PIA UK General Manager Tariq Bokhari also spoke on the occasion and said from July 1, PIA would be operating Boeing 777 planes on its Birmingham route. He said the introduction of e-ticketing and on-line booking and other state-of-the-art technologies in the new office would help the airlines to raise its profile.

Senior PIA officials in UK including Abdul Ghafoor, Financial and Human Resources Manager, Naveed Hassan, Marketing Manager, UK and Ireland and Mrs. Shahnaz Naqvi, senior sales executive, were also present on the occasion.
