Emirates A380 in Pakistan / Karachi

Post by fahadshakeel »

I have just observed and got 2 questions.
1. what does SMK means on FR24, I have seen that tag quite often on many airborne aircrafts. Mostly it's marked on personal or military or small planes.
2. Did anyone witnessed A380 on Karachi Airport? Can someone explain below images to me?

It seems it was in Karchi or may be some nearby airport. Obviously the one which can handle A380

Being a Pakistani, it's unusual hence exciting but confusing yet annoying to me #-o

Its most likely an error on FR24.

@fahadshakeel

It's an error with FR24.

SMK is usually the callsign for local military aircraft.

However, sometimes due to ModeS or HexCode similarities, one aircraft can show up as another on their site. It has happened before as well.

I remember a few months ago, I noticed it was showing an EK B777 doing domestic flights in USA.

SMK is generally displayed against army/airforce Super Mushaak acft. If you play the flight, you can see the GS around 125-130 and cruise alt of 5500 feet on out bound leg and 6500 feed on in bound. Most probably it is a super Mushaak. How it got linked to an EK A380, remains a mystery. :-o :-o :-o
