A total of ninety-six free return tickets for Karachi-Islamabad sector were issued by the airline. The information ministry had directed the financially-troubled airline to issue these tickets for showbiz stars' air travel from Karachi to Islamabad for attending PTV Awards ceremony.
Despite the passage of three months, the airline has not received money for the tickets.
PIA finance manager has contacted relevant officials at airline's head office and suggested to them to write a letter to the Information Ministry for the recovery of money in millions of rupees.

PTV denies owing Rs2.8m to PIA
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) on Saturday clarified news broadcast by a private new channel which stated that the corporation owed Rs2.8 million to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on account of 96 tickets provided to those artists who attended the National Icon Gala held at the Pak-China Center on May 15.
“It is clarified that the PTVC had nothing to do in any capacity with the awards. These were organised privately by the then information minister,” the PTV said in a statement issued here.
It further said that Vaneeza Ahmad, a renowned model/actress, was in charge of the project and all the transactions, sponsorships and arrangements were finalised through her.
Any pending payment or concern with regard to the National Icon Gala may not be attributed to the PTVC. And in case, if the PIA management has any issue, or pending payment, they must be referred to the organizers and not the PTVC, the statement said.
