Emirates Boeing 777 Involved in Ambulift Crash Incident at Islamabad Airport

A number of persons got injured when an ambulift serving Emirates Boeing 777 crashed/collapsed during passengers disembarkation/embarkation process at Islamabad Airport today.

The aircraft involved is Emirates Boeing 777-300ER registration A6-END that as flight EK-614 from Dubai landed at Islamabad Airport at 1:45 AM. The flight's scheduled arrival time was 1:35 AM.

The Boeing 777 was scheduled to depart from Islamabad at 3:10 AM as flight EK-615 to Dubai. Departure of flight EK-615 is now delayed.

Emirates Boeing 777-300ER registration A6-EMT as substitute aircraft is performing Islamabad to Dubai flight EK-615.

Earlier, A6-EMT had arrived in Islamabad at 12:21 PM as ferry flight EK-2662 from Dubai.

News photos showing cover/cowling of engine number two of Emirates Boeing 777-300ER (A6-END) damaged by an ambulift at Islamabad Airport today.

A6-END is powered by two General Electric GE90-115B engines, according to information on the web.

A6EMT is not B777-300ER. It is older Trent 800 powered B777-300 (B773)

Do they need some giant freighter like Antonov An-124 to transport replacement engine cover/cowling to Islamabad from Dubai?

According to airport officials, the Emirates plane was departing for Dubai when the incident took place.

"Emirates flight EK615 from Islamabad to Dubai on February 27, 2018, was involved in an incident on ground as passengers were boarding the aircraft. Five passengers and one ground handling staff sustained injuries and were transported to the nearest hospital," the airline said in a statement to Khaleej Times.

This looks nasty. I can see blood in one picture :(

How high are these lifters in feet/metres? I presume same as staircase, but I never thought or noticed how high is it.

Nose cowl can be split into two halves and can be transported in a normal freighter.

B777 door sill is about 17 feet from ground.
